An excellent quad core which is perfect for a little gaming session or a full-on extreme gaming overclock (which you can easily get to 4GHz!)

Perfect for even a small £250 rig as well!

Both items are exactly the same CPU, but Scan have added the L2 and L3 cache together to come up with the figure of 8MB - they both have 6MB of L3 cache.

Exactly the same CPU, cheaper at Dabs, actually Dabs currently have quite a few CPU's at decent prices.

I've already got this one (paid a lot more a year ago) .... Not ever done overclocking though - any tips on how i start about this op? also - is there any point if i dont play games on it? use it a bit for video editing

Got this cpu, it flys in games.

@vik1

If its the black edition, its as simple as changing the cpu frequency multiplier in bios. What motherboard have got?

If you want to give it a go PM me and ill talk you through it.

I've a tough choice - looking to play SFIV, Supreme Commander II, Starcraft II and Football Manager 2011. Not sure whether to get this or save some dough and go for the Phenom II x2 555 BE instead

Get this. You're guaranteed a brilliant quad core instead of a silly dual core....

Yes, you can core unlock on it but you need a certified board to do that.

Also, those games which you were talking about are about £40 in total.

Supcom2 - £6

In relative, if you pay £20-30 extra for Guaranteed 4-core than the x2, its a very worthy buy.

Would be worth trying to find out how quiet the stock fan is on this.

I can barely hear it.

They're fairly quiet for a stock cooler, you can obviously get quieter, but getting an aftermarket cooler that fits AM3 is the challenge.

Thanks for the recommendation. Will certainly pick this up then. Price seems to have gone back to normal though to 113.92

Its £109 on Todayonly.

I'm a bit confused as to why this is hot - its been this price for months?

I know - I've been watching it waiting for a significant price drop....................:(
