Think you have to be crazy to pay this today with 3600 reportedly matching its performance for about the same if not lower price and lower power consumption. I've actually seen one of these second hand but sealed for 150 and still didn't think it was worth it.
I paid only £25 more (delivered) in April 2018 for this processor. Yes, it's a great CPU, but it's not much of a discount. For comparison the RAM and SSD I bought at the same time have more than halved.

Great CPU. As expected the prices are being reduced due to 7/7 new releases.
Prime day will be interesting. I would wait until then for 2xxx deals.

Yeah great price but just got reduced to 199 dollars in USA, so reckon this will come down a lot more over next two weeks, so may just wait till ryzen 4000 series is out! Couldn't resist sorry op, great find, what a good time to be in the CPU game

That apple to orange, you cant compare price change of RAM/SSD to CPU

That's because RAM and NAND are traded commodities like oil and pork bellies which is one reason why pricing fluctuates so much.
Plus as well as that there is the typical supply and demand.
Try looking up a basic overview of economics and specifically how it impacts the IT industry.
Will be £200 or less in a week and £150 in 6 months so hold your nerve, when I bought my 1700x at launch it was well over £300 and 6 months back the same cpu was £150ish needless to say i will be upgrading and the gains will be big and the cost vs performance of this 2700x won't be worth it. The new 3600x 12 core should out perform this for similar money with lower temps and power requirements.

Be mad to buy at this price considering the 2600 is under £125, but more importantly launch of 3000 series in 2 days time, which will either be a major bargain or force the price of these down further. Two days to go.
Two days...3900X.

Agree with everything you said, but 3600X will be a 6core / 12 thread CPU. It's not quite 12 cores for many many workloads.
Take a look at the mini trade war between Japan and Korea which might well impact the supply of RAM and NAND.
This being on top of the recent outage at a NAND facility doesn't bode well in the medium term.
Considering that 8700K was £300-350 most of the time (bought mine with £270), 2700X should have never been more £250 anyway. It's inferior in everything.

£250 is the normal price for this cpu, nothing spectacular.

Nowhere near same price or lower. £70 difference after all.

I was actually refering to the 3600 which is 185 so lower than this one, unfortunately it seems it was just another and hype train, as the performance of these are a total disappointment compare to earlier leaks.
