£209 on an 8 Core / 16 Thread CPU is brill. I'm still running my R7 1700 which I am in love with. I've had it since launch and it's been nothing but awesome. Great for gaming and has some grunt when it comes to any editing I've thrown at it too.

This is the 2nd Gen model of that with a base clock of 3.7Ghz and a max of 4.2Ghz
If you're into overclocking you'll likely get a little more out of it, but you may want it under a different cooler for that. The Wraith coolers are really nice for a stock model and are perfectly adequate at stock speeds. Bit of RGB goodness in there too.

As per title, comes with 3 months Xbox Game Pass

Would you choose this over a 3600?

Would you choose this over a 3600?

Depends on what you're wanting it for. The R5 3600 is 6 core / 12 thread and is decent for gaming. If that's solely what you're doing then it's a nice chip. At the current prices of both CPUs, I'd go with the 2700x myself

The 3600 without cooler was around £180 recently (with eBay code) Currently the 3600 is £187.08 so £22.91 difference just now. If you need that £22.91 to spend elsewhere and it's tight... go for the 3600.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either

Prob go for the 2600x on Amazon currently @ £130 if it's gaming best bang for buck.
Stock is 3.6 & 4.2 boost ... More room for overclocking as well
Heat added tho

3600 is great for gaming. The 2700X will be great for gaming and multi threaded applications so i would go towards 2700x if i was buying a processor now.

My 3600 was £145 from AliExpress. I know that route wouldn't be for everyone though and this is absolutely a good CPU and great option for the money.

Didn't see the drop on that, defo a good option on the 6 core. Mind you, was asked in comparison to the 3600, so it didn't even enter my mind. Probably should have done though. So nice one! More options = Win

I've been so impressed with the Ryzen range, I'm at the point where I'd take any of them and likely be happy The 8 core / 16 thread wasn't even needed when I bought it, really. It was just a good price well within my budget, so took the plunge. I was actually going to grab another Intel chip at the time.

I do a lot more editing now, both of video and music so nice to have accidentally been ahead of the game, so to speak.

Unless you are picking out very specific deals that didn't include a cooler (though it doesn't look like it), then the 3600 DOES include a cooler.

Nah, it was an oversight when checking over the packaging. Pretty sure there used to be other options on older gen without the cooler, but with slimmer packaging. Either that, or I'm going insane. Possibly both? Edited anyway! cheers!

It was only on the 1000 series that the X versions didn't include a cooler (on the presumption that anyone buying an X version would likely be using a 3rd party cooler anyway). As far as I know ALL CPUs from the 2000 and 3000 series include a boxed cooler, whether an X model or not.

Yep! Just checked those out, I found the same too. I remember shopping around for the 1700 and finding the different options.
I think 'The Deal' is the 2600. Another eBay code should be along anytime soon, puting the 2600 at @£108 via CCL.

But I can't decide between the 2600/3600

The X versions now come with the Wraith Prism cooler its designed by Coolermaster for AMD and its great for moderate overclocking It also looks damn good. I have my 2700x with stock cooler clocked at 4.15 GHz all cores at 1.35V although i got it significantly cheaper via Amazon warehouse deals during Prime day(s) with 15% warehouse deals. You shouldn't require third party cooler unless you want it to be really silent.

Did you get a customs charge/vat on that or did it slip through the net?
