1600x well worth £158

1600 is pretty much the better deal here tbh as they both don't really go above 4ghz anyway and the stock 1600 comes with a cooler while the 1600X doesn't

These are really good prices, but the new Ryzen 2 processors are coming out 19th April. From leaked benchmarks, they're about 15-20% better in single and multi, and have lower memory latency, when paired with the new x470 motherboards. Saying that, they're probably going to be more than 20% more expensive, so certainly the new ones seem like less value for money.

Just wait prices of these will fall further since amd have announced reduction in these chips.
This is a great price for an already great valued chip. heat added.

On a side note though, if anyone doesnt mind used CPU's i would imagine a fair amount of people will dump there first gen ryzen chips to upgrade to the second generation chips that are coming out soon i have heard. You may be able to pick one up quite cheap if there is an influx of them being sold when a release date is confirmed for ryzen 2 chips.

But it can be a bit risky buying an unlocked used CPU. Who knows what voltage they've had pushed through them and how hot they've been running.

cant dispute that but i was just putting it out there for anyone who doesn't mind buying used. There is sure to be a fair few of these knocking around on ebay when the newer generation come out. Eitherway i wasnt trying to discredit this deal, this is a very good price for a new chip.
I think i might grab a 1600 in the bext few weeks with a big discount. The 2000 series is close but not much better. The big jump will be next year with the Zen2 7nm Ryzen line up 😃

the 7nm Ryzens will have up to twice the amount of core.. potentially or at the very least 14 core 3700x/3800x
5C/10t with 16 vega core s 2650 apu will be out in 2019 ..... maybe
I think these prices include the amd price reductions .. they may go a few quid lower , but AMD have learned their lesson on stock control , and these will disappear fairly quickly after the refresh chips appear. imo.
In two minds regarding this, do I hold off for the 2600 or take the value of the 1600 right now, don't really game on my PC

I dont overclock it but at the time it was cheaper than the 1600 and I already owned a decent cooler, got to say I dont really push it at all but its very much worth the money.

I have a 1700 and very happy with it. I got a friend who got the 1600x because he didn't want to manually overclock and he has had no issues either.

Fair enough. I bought an R7 1700 from ebuyer when they mispriced them one weekend. I paid £206. They tried to wriggle out of the sale but I raised a dispute through the independent online dispute resolution service and ebuyer backed down the same day. Fantastic CPU. Overclocked to 3.7Ghz using Auto voltage (upto 1.3V max) on the stock Wraith Spire RGB Cooler. Highly recommended.

very good price, i remember when scan had a misprice on there 1800x. Unfortunately they cancelled all orders but i'm sure it was below 200pounds which would have been unreal value.

was 180 i think from memory
Considering the new Ryzen refresh, then I dont think this is significant enough a drop. they have been as low as £135.
In the US they have been down to $130. I would wait for those levels as they clear old stick or get the new one.
