Evening All, Hope you all had a lovely fantastic Christmas with family and co.

scanning the web for current deals and we have the Ryzen 1600 6Core 12Thread CPU at a price of £89.97, it has been on offer at £83.50 when using one of the expired Ebay codes and at £86 ,,, but still a great lower standard price compared to the rest of the market today

So this is the 1st Generation line of the 6 core / 12 thread CPU, compared to the 2nd generation its a little shy in performance, just like the recent debate do u go for the 2nd generation 2600 line vs the 3600 line, and the answer is whats your budget and what GPU you getting as if you are putting more on to the CPU line rather then GPU line its advisable to go for the older generation and this is exactly what happened when the 2nd generation came out over the 1st generation the 1st decreased and a new price on the 2nd hit and if u were working within a budget for the whole system rather then the type "i must get the newest regardless" "i know what end GPU im getting regardless" i have met all sorts of gamers.

so the 3rd generation CPU's hit, the prices of the older 2nd generation decreased which in affect pretty much killed the 1st generation as the gap between 1st/2nd is marginal but this cpu has dropped further from that line in to a new figure now worth talking about again, the 2nd generation is doing extreme well on sales it wont be too long to this drops down but might be a bit longer then people think because it is doing extremely well and if you pair them with a nice RX590 u have got a nice system worth talking about .

So the build im looking at with this CPU is for low budget self builders With plenty of Roomy upgrades and decent parts looking at the lowest decent option paired with an entry level rx570 upto 5700 line deal atm.

** the 1600 has been re released and updated to use ZEN+ which is what the 2600 is, so its a nice addition the new CPUS offer better performance has been in production since September, CCL wont promise its this AF, but people have been getting them.
Thanks to member in comments: Whitedot for pointing this out.

Gold standard and has high reviews and perfectly fine to upgrade GPU's laters on, with RX570 gigabyte in a CIT Raider Case(4fans included case) for only £414

*Additional Xbox pass included on selective lines may not be used if using code from the GPU line, *The 3600x comes with Borderlands / Outerworlds**

*outer worlds is part of Xbox PC Pass, so best getting Borderlands under CPU promo offer and Ghost recon under the GPU promo offer --> if u take the 3600x option instead.

So a few ideas for a new self builder from £414+

If i see any GPU deals, i will update as i go along.

so from £414 1600+RX570, but what if u have an extra £30 do u upgrade to the 2600 or RX590, alot of the bench mark tests kill the RX570 cos they base it on the 4gb... not the 8gb version so its not as bad of a gap they say, but still the RX590 will give u better FPS on a 1600 then a RX570/2600 combo.

Ive left the storage to last to edit on, because everyone's got a different idea on storage, no matter if your a higher up part user on the above or a budget user, everyone has there own pref.

Riotoro PSUs are good quality, they're ex corsair and seasonic employees. The psus themselves are basically rebranded seasonics.
This should be in discussion surely?

Thanks pal, added info.
Heat for all the effort, will save this for later to see if there is anything that will play 4k hdr silently
Heat for all the extra info.
I purchased a 1600 from Ccl a couple of weeks ago and asked for the AF version as it’s an underclocked 2600 ZEN+ and they didn’t have a clue. Anyway i purchased anyway and received it.
Just built it Christmas Day with my son with a rx580 8gb. Came with code for borderlands 3 and it looks pretty good. (Didn’t get Xbox live with it though?) looking at the cpu % while the games running its not putting hardly any load on it which I’m very pleased with as wasn’t sure to get the 2600 or not.

A while back hardware unboxed re tested the 1700 and 1600 with new games and successive updates and the gap to the intel CPU's of its day in games had all but disappeared (and of course out of games AMD rule the roost with a hot iron bar)

Each successive generation is better, AMD have been making big strides. But for the money you take your choice and there isnt a bad option.

Did you get the AF version then?
I've sent them a message about the AF to confirm.
If it's not as the intentions of this post it's a dam good cpu for budget folks, but if it is that's a steal of a deal.

Yes it was the AF that came with the stealth cooler. It’s running great

I did the same to ask for confirmation but they didn’t confirm it. Just said that it could be that box number. I ordered and thankfully it was the AF

The RX580 I got elsewhere. They were quick to email the activation code for the game but no mention of Xbox game pass. I’ve emailed them but there either busy this time of year or have few staff.
There's sellers now selling the AF for £8 or more than the Ryzen 5 2600X, which doesn't make a lot of sense really to buy it at that price. If it was guaranteed to be AF then I'd snap one up for this price.
CCL have said to me today they cant confirm that its the new AF, but they are new cpu's in, they have no older stock so its whatever the manufacturers have sent in. - not the greatest advice really.

Apparently the new version has been in production since September/October so hopefully that's all they have in.
What do you get in the box? Never bought a chip on its own, does it come with a cooler bloc thing to put a fan on and paste?...

Btw I appreciate your top work Op, Very well laid out very informative posts, love it and great reading!!.. cheers

You get a fully assembled heatsink and fan, and pre-applied thermal paste. Just fix it down to your motherboard after installing the CPU, connect the power and you're done.

Excellent, thanks.... Absolute bargain for what you get, shame there's no guarantee on an AF chip. I take it you can return it if not, do CCL do free returns?

My brother is saying that has ivybridge i5 (3rd gen) paired with a GTX 970 is struggling on Monster Hunter on high which I'm surprised by. He was asking about a CPU upgrade but socket 1155 only supports 2nd and 3rd gen Intel which won't be much of an upgrade. I was surprised though as I didn't think they'd bottleneck a GTX 970 but checking performance charts, it does seem there's a noticeable upgrade for gaming going from anything prior to Ryzen or Intel 8th gen as those chips (especially Intel 2nd gen all the way up to 6th gen) barely improved performance - not too surprising when there was no competition at the time. He did tell me that the CPU was running at 100% whereas the GPU wasn't.

On the other hand, I checked on reddit and it seems MH was just badly coded/ported and it seems there's a particle effect bug so even with better CPU/GPU, everyone will still lag. This was a year ago though so not sure if it still holds true.

Can't decide whether to just leave him be due to the game just being a bad port or to upgrade to this for £90 or get the Ryzen 7 2700 for £126 and sell the game code for almost £25 making it a £100ish purchase... It's only £10 more but have to go through the effort of selling the game code. Would have to buy an AM4 motherboard and DDR4 RAM though if switching from 3rd gen Intel.

If you need the extra cores go for the 2700, for games, get the 2600.

16 GB ddr4 will cost £50-60

A good AM4 motherboard will cost £50-80
I would recommend the b450 tomahawk max. It is the best b450 motherboard, it doesn't have WiFi tho

Getting this 1600 AF is pretty much the same as getting a 2600 though right?
sell the game code for almost £25I
I love all these optimistic selling prices .. when I sold a game code I was lucky to get £10 and grateful that they paid at all.
Ripping people off on these is rife e.g.. buy code with paypal ,get code wait until the last minute them do a paypal chrageback

Great price tho

Depends which game you're playing. Some are more cpu bound. However it's still enough.
