AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz Hexa Core AM4 CPU

#This is the AF Version, confirmed by CCL myself.

The AF version gives near performance of the 2600 at a much lesser price.

Fantastic Value for money......

###

But what is this Ryzen 5 1600 AF?Late last year a mysterious Ryzen 5 1600 refresh made it to market. Bizarrely, AMD released a really cheap version of the Ryzen 5 2600, but just called it the Ryzen 5 1600. Known as the "Ryzen 5 1600 AF" because of the box identification, it’s very different to the original Ryzen 5 1600 AE model.

Forget about the name, this is a 2nd-gen Ryzen part. Essentially it’s an R5 2600 with a slight decrease in clock speed. Apparently AMD didn’t have enough 14nm wafers available to keep producing the R5 1600, so they simply shifted it to the 12nm process and now they’re making a version of the R5 2600 that they call the R5 1600.

Unbeatable CPU at £80. In fact it's so much better than anything close to this price you have to buy it, even if your budget is £60 you have to stretch to this.

Whatever the truth, an i7-8700K is £330+ and a Ryzen 5 3600 has been as low as £145, and I bet you wouldn't notice the difference between them so I'd rather have the £150+ for something else in my system.

I go for whatever gives the best performance for the price and there's nothing a Ryzen 5 3600 can't play and you'd get way more gaming performance from the extra £150 spent on a GPU. Also you used the word fanboy so that means anything you say is redundant as you have no objectivity.

I can see the headlines now "Guy on forums proves popular and trusted reviewer wrong with 2 poor cinebench scores"

Chart isn't a lie, you are wrong and it also seems you are somehow bad at cinebench? You and your brother score lower than anyone else on the ocuk cinebench r20 thread with the same CPUs.

Maybe you should get a PS5 or Xbox series X when they come out, seem like they are much more up to your technical ability.

fantastic price for the AF
Thanks, almost missed this. Grabbed a few more they are selling like the proverbial hotcakes in systems.

Awesome! Wouldn't be much better than my current pc but so tempted to sell my riig so I can build one of these!
So I buy this turns out to be the standard 1600 and then I state that a user in hotukdeals confirmed that it was an AF.
Before you purchase confirm that by yourself.

I don't think you'd notice a huge difference. Going to a 3600, though, would be noticeable.

Watch this:

I wouldn't call it £40 worth of difference but you may think differently. Overclocking your current 1700 would probably just as beneficial and not cost £40!
Omar1980uk03/02/2020 19:34

What's an AF

Original version of the 1600 had AE in the product code.
The new version with AF in the product code means it's the same (newer) technology as the Ryzen 5 2600.
So everyone is callingv it the 1600AF.
Beast of a processor for a bargain price if you can't stretch above £90

Those Intel CPUs are not overclocked. Made AMD look better. Laughable.
We all know Intel K CPUs gain at least 1000Mhz on OC from based frequency.
No one buys K unlocked CPUs and use stock speed. Whoever made that chart needs to quit this, they have either been paid by AMD, or lack common hardware knowledge.

None of them are overclocked. It's a chart comparing each at stock. Why would that mean they'd been 'paid by AMD'?

Yep.

£20-30 extra on quality memory for the Ryzen which would narrow the gap anyway. Then dump the rest saved on the GPU, you'll be a tier above in gaming performance
Ordered, need a cheap start up for a rig but will still offer good performance for a 1440p machine

Got it with a tomahawk max and will drop a 3900x in it in a year or so when the prices drop.

My spec :

Ryzen 5 3600
MSI Mortax Max (better I/O than Tomahawk Max, no RGB depends what floats your boat)
32GB DDR4
1TB Sabrent Rocket NVMe - POP_OS 19.10
256 Lite-On SSD - Windows 10 (pre existing install from preivous build i7-3770)

I'm happy with it, it replaces an aging Mac Mini 2014. POP_OS uses GNOME by default and the navigation is very similar to macOS. I also added some topicons, weather to the top tray and a macOS style dock auto hidden.

Windows 10 uses 3.2GB on bootup and POP_OS uses less than 1GB, and less than 3GB in normal operation. It's overkill for me but cost me £504 to upgrade and will thrash a Mac Mini 2018 at a third of the price.

I don't think I'll ever need a 3900X but who knows I will need to be seeing some real performance loss on this build in a few years time to consider upgrading the CPU. Unlikely.

Describing them as being in "different leagues" is simply false information. You're the one with absolutely no idea what he's talking about. Or are simply a dishonest Intel fanboy, which is just as likely.

Kosmonaut03/02/2020 20:21

We all know Intel K CPUs gain at least 1000Mhz on OC from based frequency.

As we can clearly see from this. What absolute complete and utter nonsense. Intel CPUs don't run at their base frequency out of the box. They run at their all-core turbo frequency. For a 9900K, that's 4.7GHz for example. Good luck getting "at least" another 1GHz on top of that without liquid nitrogen. And indeed they run even higher on most motherboards thanks to multi-core enhancement or MCE, which is enabled by default on most boards and pegs the CPU to its max turbo frequency on all cores.
What cooler do you get with this and is it any good?

For a general PC and a bit of video editing, is this the best one to go for on a tight budget? Not really into gaming that much, any I do would be light.

this will be right up your street, u wont be needing the extra cores such as the 7 series, so the 5th series will be bang on 6cores 12 threads, and it comes with a AMD Wraith Spire cooler, which is more then enough to handle this at stock.

this is one of the best bang for buck CPU's in the market...... today,

GPU over CPU for gamers too, so even a nice 5700xt would be bang on for this CPU, never mind what that moron of a site what gives prediction of bottleneck states.

Price gone up, too popular.
Still a great price at £82 for what you get
price on post update - anything under £90 .... deal still for this. the 2600x is £108 atm under my name

Ordered along with the Tomahawk Max and the 2 x 8GB Crucial Ballistix LT 3200MHz that was on offer for £51!!

Any recommendations on a cheap GPU. I'm not a gamer and will be using it for general use and video editing. Any gaming that I do would be very light. I've got around £230-250 left for a monitor and GPU, So looking for a GPU under £130. Looking for something quiet that doesn't sound like a hair dryer!

Been looking on pcpartpicker and the GTX1050Ti's can be had for under £120. If I get into gaming more then I'd upgrade the GPU further down the line.

Thanks
