It's a good price but why would you pay £99 for this when a 2600 is less than £10 more? You wouldn't

Its 3.2GHz base clock btw I have one
Great CPU and overclocking is really easy with a good cooler and some tweaks

That is very true these first gen chips are very fussy with ram and about 20% slower maybe ?

Ryzen 5 2600 doesn't seem to be much less fussy. Mine won't boot with 3200Mhz Corsair Ballistix unless I clock down to 3000Mhz, or more precisely will boot with 1 stick but not 2.

I had to return 3 sets of ballistix, and that was on 2x intel platforms.
I wont touch the stuff anymore.

The gap between 1st gen and 2nd isn't that much, although I wouldn't take 1600 for that price. If You are on a budget You can find the 1st gen cpu's dirt cheap,Ive got recently 1600x for 30,two pins bend,10 minutes fix.

The max frequency for the cpu is under 3000mhz but I don't see why it wouldn't boot up and clock down the frequency automatically?? Strange

In their defense the kit i got didnt boot at XMP at all. Tuned with Ryzen Dram Calculator its stable at CL14 3600... No idea why the cl16 3200 doesnt boot!

re the deal. This is good as the integrated 4 core 8 thread GPU variants cost more than this.

I also had to return a set of supposed golden crucial ballistix ram that refused to play ball with my 2600. Some people post that they can get upwards of 4000mhz at decent timings but mine wouldn't even post.

Internet is full of people claiming that the Micron e-die is much better than the "overpriced" Samsung b-die because their £10 stick of 2400 MHz overclocked to 1Ghz at CL3 (exaggerated for effect). Given my experience I will only believe it if I see it in person.
Not a bad deal this, but I think for an extra £8-10 you can get the 2600 which is a newer and better CPU, especially for gaming where there were massive improvements from Ryzen 1st to 2nd series. Just my 2 cents.

And yet my ballistix 3200 cl16 32gb happily runs at 3600 cl14 with ryzen 3700x.
