Doesn't look like its going to get any cheaper. Finally caved on this one. Ideally wanted a 2700x or a 2600x but can't justify the prices.

I'm holding out for Jan sales. Looking to upgrade from the 1400 to the 2700x.

I'm building my little brother his first gaming PC for xmas so sadly I cannot wait for the sales.

Wanted to give him as much of a boost as I could from the start. The 2600 will do for him fine I'm just disappointed I couldn't get better for the money.

Tbh the 2600 is a great choice for the price. The 1400 I currently have paired with a gtx 1060 6gb plays everything perfectly fine at 1080p (from what I've tested). Just looking for something a little more future proof. The 2600 will do you well for some time yet.

Yep, same with mine - barely breaks a sweat. I have a B450 MB so I can upgrade to 3000 series down the line if I ever need to. I think the extra core varients are more for video editing etc, mostly... maybe bigger RTS games.
