Might as well save yourself £13 and buy the Ryzen 5 1600 AF (brand new from CCL) which is essentially the same thing with a very minor downclock.

Bargain. Although for 8 quid more you can now get a new one. What's going on with the prices? I know the 3xxx are here, and we'll priced, but the 2xxx prices are plummeting.

I know crazy pricing on the 2 series recently let's hope it keeps dropping I need to upgrade my 2600 but can't justify the price/performance gain of the 3600 at the moment

You may find a decent b350 board on warehouse deals I sometimes see them for around £50, but like you say ram and CPU too your looking at unjustifiable money spent if your current system is still fulfilling your needs

I’m in a similar boat, except I have no “need” to upgrade, just a desire for something new. Hope I can fend it off until the 4600 (or equivalent) arrives.

Then I’ll have the same internal debate telling myself “the prices will drop soon, just like the last series!”...

With the 1600 AF for 80,which is basically a slightly slower clock version of 2600, the prices went down.
for those on pre-ryzen, i can assure you there will be plenty of gain to be had and the upgrade will be worth while. used to have a 8 core 9850 and was getting micro stutters in games even at 1080p, went to a ryzen 5 1600 and it all went away with the benefit of higher frames too

If you bought the 1600 AF you could probably do it for £200. £180 if you can find a cheap board.
Still a lot though if you haven't got it. But worth it.
These are very capable processors for the money. I have one paired with an RX580 and 16GB DDR4 3200 and it performs like a champ.

Exactly this. No advantages to this used 2600 over the new 1600AF - save for maybe the better cooler with the 2600
I know when it's in your pc it will work as good as a new one but I'd just want a bit more of a saving to buy a second hand one.
Built for gamers, creators, and PC enthusiasts

Wanted to go for it but am not a gamer, can't create and am not particularly enthusiastic about my PC either.
Still waiting for 2700x prices to go down.

I'd be suprised, it's £130 with a free game lol. That basically makes it £100 effective

You're thinking of the 2700. Not the 2700X. That's still £152.
