Just saw this and was browsing through to see if there was anything else like this discounted. I found this and 7 2700x, great prices

What is the student price of the Ryzen 7 2700x?

I assume the 3600 and 2700 don't get a student discount ?

Thanks.

Now just to find a nice main board that can take the 3 series for furture proofing. Was looking at the MSI Mortar but i think there are issues with fitting the new Bios code on the chip hence they released the MAX version.

If you're buying your parts very soon and you don't have access to a X570 motherboard then I'd suggest you get the 2600 since you'll need a BIOS update for the B450/X470 boards for this to work.

Mortar has a bios already released on their blogs so you can use it with a 3000 series if you wish to.
Scorchio especially with £8 top up. Does £10 audible work too? In that case £82

Yea but they have had to make sacrifices in the code as the 16mb chips can hold all the data

I think they just had to delete some of the high res images to squeeze it all on so hopefully should be fine. Mortar does seem to be the best b450m still as nowhere selling the max yet far as I can tell. And disable some raid configurations.

What’s the best budget board for this?

In terms of price/performance: AsRock B450M Pro4.

If you want a board that works then grab the HDV/HVD.

I know a bit cheeky....but is there any way a non student can get these prices? I have three kids at school if that counts and i am building it for one of them
neddyuk15/07/2019 11:35

B450 Chip doesnt support PCIE4

Actually it does:

m.hexus.net/tec…rt/

Well B450 doesn't support the extra PCI-E 4 lanes that X570 does but the direct lanes from the CPU to the GPU and NVME slots will work at PCIE 4 speeds with a Ryzen 2 CPU.

Yea so although that might be compatible it wont be a true PCIE4 slot.

Yep the mortar is in my basket for a 3600 & 5700 XT build.

Hard to turn down this value though!

For PCIe x16 and M.2 slots it will be as they're directly tracked to the processor which covers the majority of uses.

Either way, Asus has a list of B450 and X470 boards that support PCIe 4.0 and hopefully other manufacturers will follow (if they can).

Yes it will. It will deliver full PCI-E 4 speeds as the PCI-E slot and M2 slot will have direct to CPU links.

I've posted the Asus list above. Theyve defied AMD who back tracked and said no B450/X470 boards will allow PCI-E4 as, though possible, it was too confusing for the consumer.

It's understandable as I can see why it'd be confusing to consumers to have some boards comply with PCIe 4.0 specs and others that don't - easier to just blanket say they don't.

Hopefully AMD won't do an Intel and force B450/X470 board manufacturers to completely pull the support of PCIe 4.0 though.

Likely wherever has it in stock, it's got Bios flashback so I've got no worries about having to upgrade the bios straight off the bat.

Well I hope I won't have any!
Tomahawk is also compatible and can BIOS without CPU...

Think I saw it for <£70 warehouse deals and £80 normal prime.. gone.

I think they have fixed the Raid issue in the latest Bios update they rolled out last Friday, so it's mainly the support for the older chips and the high res artwork, that you are sacrificing.

Bit short sighted on their side though, they knew that AMD planned to support the AM4 platform for 4 years, so you would have thought they made the BIOS storage big enough in anticipation for support for the future hardware.

If you're after a b450 board and don't have a last gen ryzen then you'll want one with flashback.

Cool, thanks for that, I went for the MSI X470 GAMING PRO AM4 DDR4 ATX Motherboard
ebay.co.uk/itm…845
With the Ebay code (Party ) it's £25 off making it 100.78, thats only £25 more than a b450, weirdly the order stays it's raving with a MSI Clutch gaming mouse.I'm thinking the 2600 will do for now as a cheap upgrade for my old Sandybridge 3570 & I can get a next get Ryzen next year in the same board..At least thats what I'm hoping
So £200 for a 2600 & x470 Motherboard, thats not bad is it?
Bought this yesterday at £114 arrived just now. quick support call to amazon and they have refunded difference .
