The 3600 at only £40 more seems worth it to me. Think these will drop further.

If you can't afford a Ryzen 5 3600 then go for the Ryzen 5 2600 not worth the extra for the 2600x

I started buying all new pc stuff a few month ago, b450 MSI carbon pro board etc, is there anyway of updating the board for 3600 without buying a 2000 CPU

Msi boards have a Bios flashback from Usb-carbon should have it as well-there is a switch on the board backplate-check the spec to make sure.

Agree the 3600 looks like the chip of choice from the ryzen line up. Perfect for someone running photoshop, visual studio, sql server etc, I'm using a 1700 still and can't see me needing to upgrade for a couple of years yet.

From looking at benchmarks though for gamers, all I think is how good is the intel i5 9600k, what a chip! Intel probably breathed a sigh of relief.
