I appreciate there are a few AMD CPU posts - I'm only adding this one as it's the CPU I want for a rebuild I'm completing in a couple of weeks.

This is the Generation 3 Ryzen, 6 core, 12 threads.

Also the 2600x is on Amazon for £134, with the MSI x470 and auto boost all cores went to 4.1 without any tweaking the voltage
2600x is not too powerful
I'm loving my 3600. Ryzen with good memory is really what you need if you mostly do gaming.

It's not all that far behind this chip in games tbh. It all depends on whether you're looking for price-performance or you're the sort of person who always wants the latest stuff though really.

Better 3600 for the same money

Are you a damn fool? You can't find a 3600 for the same price as a 2600X unless you're looking at a hideously overpriced 2600X.

You're just not getting it.
On this budget 100-200 is much better to buy 3600.

Well You can add another 30-40 and pick something better and so on.You forgetting the price of motherboard and memory,2600x will run on b350 and 3600 You need to go x570 to use all the benefits of next gen.

What memory and pcie speeds does x470 supports?Whats the point choosing 3rd gen without taking all the advantages it brings?
Can I have a link to the x470 which will be capable to run 3900x for a 100?

No I get it. I also own a 3600 myself but the 2600 is the better price-performance chip right now. In fact it's probably the best one around.

X470 is not 100 quid. The closest option to that on Amazon right now is the one below and it doesn't support BIOS flashback.

2600 is good enough. But for new builds definitely worth it.

If You plan to put 3900x on that board thats totally up to You,imho it would be a waste.

Apparently the x570 bords overheat because of the chip.
But this board for the 3600 and in case 3900x price will at a low price will have the possibility to upgrade to 3900x.

I'd be surprised if the VRM could handle it.

Please ignore him. He's clearly a cretin and has derailed this thread enough already.
I'll repost this from the other thread:

You should check out either the B450 Mortar Max or the B450 Tomahawk Max motherboards from the same seller on eBay. They are compatible with the Ryzen 3600 cpu out of the box. Both these boards have no chipset fan and actually have superior VRM cooling than many X570 motherboards. Just make sure you look at the MAX versions as the non MAX versions need BIOS updates before they will work with the Ryzen 3600.

I just bought a Ryzen 3600 and the B450 Mortar Max from this seller using this deal. Total came to £260.80. I then bought some Crucial Ballistix Sport LT BLS2K8G4D32AESCK 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM from Amazon for £65.59 (I got £10 off by using the Amazon app for the first time).

So for a total of £326.39 I got CPU, Motherboard, RAM and also a bonus 3 months XBOX Gamepass which comes with the CPU.

It is the Tomahawk Max board that I went from, same seller, 10% off etc..
Ended, it's at £198 now. I expect it was a pricing mistake, they would never have been able to sell it at that price. Lucky you, anyone who got it at that price!
