Any really good motherboard on offer for this processor?
This will run well in any motherboard, so cheap as you like or as much money as you like, think of the features you want on the board, more than anything else really. As it is only a 65Watt TDP, it is easily run on anything. Overclocking these is a waste of time, they do it better themselves, so they even go well on an ancient A320 board, which you should pick up for £42 these days... So long as the board is 3000 Ready to accept the CPU without a Bios update, then you'll be fine. People like CCL will usually do this for you..
But if in the future you think you might want to upgrade to one of the upcoming 8 or 12 core CPUs, you'll probably want a decent one.

Yeah ithink that bundle was £242 at one point with an eBay code and that was when the 3600 was £170

Heard that a new processor which is £87.00 is very good value and can compete with this. Ryzen 5 1600 Af.
Was thinking to invest in that one and a nice motherboard where i can upgrade later.

Same for me, i'm currently searching for the best deals but can wait a little if needed, going to pair it up with the RX 570 8GB deal not long posted, also wanting a small form factor case though.

Yeah tbh 1600 AF is enough. This is faster but you save a lot going for the AF.
I went for the 2600x a while back and it's plenty for everything I do including gaming at 1440p.
In a few years time the 8 cores will be much cheaper.
Getting a decent board and upgrading the CPU later isn't a bad move.
But many like high refresh rate 1080p and the 3600 is better for that.

Thanks. Do you need thermal paste when you install this?

I bought the X570 8Gb card also! Lol i have an old pc i got from work for free and will try it there to see if it works. Have a macbook pro at the moment.

Donno what to do nothing on offer.

Better buy big case for pc it's always much better than smaller. Big case max motherboard!

There's paste on the wraith coolers already but I still always put a smidge on.
You don't need to but I just do
It's always worth having a tube anyway. I've touched the paste on installation before and wiped half of it off.

That is a good idea for big overclocks but I will be only doing a mild overclock and an undervolt if it will let me so a small itx case is all I need/want.

The hunt continues

I found one recently on here where the guy removed the hard drive cage ( drilled out the rivets ) and there was a lot of spare room after, will do something similar, a ssd fits inside the side cover so all good

All that for nothing no space for a future upgrade

Plenty of space after you remove the cage and looks a lot better.
It for the lounge for casual gaming so has to be small and look good.
Each to their own though

Girls like big cases

Yes they do, but they don't like 3.5 inch floppy
BEWARE!!!
Of original thermal paste thats on wraith stealth cooler! It sticks like a glue to cpu and you can rip you cpu off with cooler (I've read the stories) and bend its contacts or worse when you decide to change cooler. Probably same paste on other ryzens! Wipe it off and apply something like mx4 thermal paste before install !!!

BEWARE

I intstalled wraith cooler just for one day till I get aftermarket cooler, preheated cpu with bench before changing coolers and it was already glued hell bad.

Not really an offer but still a really good value. cclonline.com/pro…34/ CCL also have MSI B450M-A Pro and Asrock B450M-HDV for 10 quid less, but those boards have a very budget feel yo them (lack of CPU VRM cooling on the MSI, aleggedly bad VRM on the cheap Asrock. The Pro4-F is a very decent midranger. I've recently bought MSI B450M Mortar (micro-atx variant of the tomahawk) for my 1600AF and it hasn't blown my socks off. I wish I have saved the money.

Thx so what to buy instead
The reason why you can't overclock these much is that CPU mfrs have gotten a lot better at extracting the max performance/power out of their new CPUs's . Precision overboost does it all. SO theres very little headroom left over to overclock, unless you indulge in water blocks , big Fans etc.
I suspect most do it now for a hobby rather than being economically viable (just spend the extra on a better CPU?)

MSI B450m-A Pro. Is a great all-rounder. For putting a 3000 series low power 3600 in, they are perfect. It is in VERY few circumstances that anything like Mortars or Tomahawks or anything above B450 etc are needed. Since 3000 Series CPUs came about, with their own (excellent) ability to overclock themselves much better than us humans do, the need for the extra simply isn't there. If you AVOID anything that says Gaming etc and with it all the nonsense hype and cost, you will not go far wrong. These MSI Pro boards are designed for long-term office, on 24/7 use and for a touch over £50, you will not go far wrong to be honest. There's little point in investing heavily in a B450 chipset board as we will only get one more iteration of AM4 compatible chip, so take the advice on future-proofing with a pinch of salt. Reality is that when the time comes, you'll be replacing the board and the CPU. Invest in a good PSU, good case etc, the stuff you will really keep...Same goes for RAM, be careful with the 32Gb route, as the next Gen boards, when you are ready for upgrading will no doubt be DDR5 or above, so be sure you need the 32Gb over 16GB if this is your train of thought. Reason I say is there's only 2 x slots in board I refer to above. Like it or not, AM4 platform is on its last legs, with only 12-18 months life left in it. Still better than Intel, but we find ourselves in funny times at present...

What Graphics Card?
aidan.conway26/03/2020 12:06

What Graphics Card?

The refurbished Rx 570 from the earlier deal at 8Gb Sapphire Nitro Plus.

My sistem is on budget
You would get away with either a Corsair VS 450 for £35 amazon or
EBuyer do a Thermaltake Litepower 450 watt for £29 + a bit of carriage.
EXTREME Budget, CCL do an Own Brand 'Builder' 600 watt for about £25 also, which will run this lot easily.

ebay.co.uk/itm…649

They are actually £19 with POUNDOFF Code today..

None of these are quality PSU's, but good enough for what you have at the minute, if you want to get out cheaply?
