Even cheaper, great find.

I'm on the hunt for one myself so want to share my search with all of you. Going to buy when it hopefully reaches £145ish....

Just taking my time, I'm in no rush. The plan is to complete my build by end of Feb.

Can you suggest a good motherboard. I've been looking at Asus PRIME B450M-A Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard as its Ryzen 3000 ready and I can't be bothered with a bios update.

The Asus doesn’t look great to be honest- not if you want to put a cheap 3900/3950 or even 3700/3800 in it somewhere down the road that is.

How much do you want to spend? If flexible cash wise and want something with CPU upgrade headroom then the mATX MSI B450M Gaming Plus would see you well. Personally I went with a Tomahawk Max as want ATX I.e. full size. It’s great for the cost.

I did see a deal a week or two ago on here where there was one for £145 ish, so they have been a bit cheaper. I'm still smarting from paying £170 about 3 weeks ago :/

Yeah, this is why I'm not in a massive rush. I'm quite lucky with my work to get 8% off in Curry's so I'm waiting for it to go back into stock so I can get it for £155 with 8% off at £143. Plus if amazon drops the price to say, 145, curry's will match meaning I could get a ryzen 3600 for under £135.

Now I've built my PC I want more, more powers, more speed, I want more, so already I want to upgrade the 3600 but it's pointless. It gets about 10,000+ points on passmark more than my last CPU an i7-3770 and the IPC is better and I just compared it to my neighbour's Dell PC which seemed fast and mine is completely destroying it for speed. I am running Linux though and he's running Windows 10 so there is simply no possible way he can compete on speed with my PC but regardless he's not trying to compete and neither am I. I guess I now realise what awesome computing power I have at my finger tips and it's more than I need, but yup I want more.

I'm using an MSI Mortar Max, I bought it instead of a Tomahawk Max which is often recommended because the I/O is better and it has an extra M.2 slot, it has fewer SATA ports but enough for most people. I'm only using one of the SATA ports. I also like the fact that it has an optical audio output instead of having to buy a header card. My system is pretty fast, 32GB RAM, Ryzen 5 3600, Sabrent Rocket 1TB NVMe, 256GB LiteON SSD, GTX 1060 3GB. Win 10 is on the LiteON and is a previous install from previous build, I use POP_OS 19.10 mainly and I'll be using more Linux OS's on VMs. Does everything I need so far. If I start running low on CPU resources then I'll get a 3900X. I've had it running even faster using other Linux distros but POP_OS is the one I like the most.

What about it doesn't look great?
I'm liking the MSI x470 Gaming Pro Carbon at the moment, using it with a 3600, but maybe a 450 would have been enough.

Which sata ports gets disabled when you install the M2 SSD at the top slot?
Every Msi Max mobo comes with bios ready for Ryzen 3. Best for oc (best vrm's) are Mortar and Tomahawk, considering B450 chip only...
