That's seriously interesting.

Right now the rx5700 is on this site for £235 and the 2070 Super is £400 on here too.
If you look you see £165 jump to the Super nets you 78 - 87 fps (if you stick with a ryzen 2600)

But if you invested that the £50 difference between a 2600 and a 3600 to upgrade your CPU and stick with a rx5700 (Saving effectively £115) you get 84fps, basically 2070 super + ryzen 2600 performance.

That's a very good value proposition, what a bit of kit AMD have produced.

Ah sorry man, yeah I didn't remember the period! I thought it was till 25th Jan, shame as that was the best GPU deal I've seen in over a year

Surely
a false equivalence .. diff between 2600 & 3600 with same GPU ?? Not too much 10-15% (at best)??
or you might just like saving £50, to put towards your next CPU 4600 in Oct?Nov ..(am4 socket ??)

The problem with Asus rx 5700 (xt) cards is that all models are kind of bad and tuf model is crap as its memory boils over 100 °C. So I would stay away from those Asus cards

It's not false, it's in the benchmarks shown. If you have an rx5700 and a ryzen 2600, you get the same performance upgrading to a 3600 as a 2070 super, at 1080p. This is an interesting fact, and it's not false...

If you’re not a gamer then look at the Ryzen 7 2700. More cores than the 2600 and useful for things like encoding. Maybe £25-30 more than the 2600.

No idea why the prices on these are dropping so much at this time of year, but it's good to be a PC gamer!

The 2600 will manage all that with ease, for plex transcoding you would be better off using an Nvidia GPU like a 1650 Super as it uses the Turing NVENC engine.
Looking to upgrade my old computer components, have to change my motherboard (not compatible with the newest CPU socket),

Which one would you recommend guys to pair with this CPU?

What motherboard do you have currently? For 3600 if your under a budget I would get MSI B450m Mortar MAX
For anyone running this CPU on stock cooler, what idle temps are you getting and also does your fan start running high and low intermittently? my idle temp fluctuates between 38-45C.

Upgraded to latest bios and using MSI Mortar Max

Ensure you install the latest AMD chipset software.

Hi, I was getting the same temps on the stock cooler, so I got an AIO Watercooler to put on. It fluctuates madly also. If the CPU kicks in even for a few seconds to do some work, the temp increase is immediate. If you look in Ryzen MAster, you'll see the V goes close to 1.5V at times, which is HUGE in CPU terms, in fact AMD would shoot you if you applied that voltage to an overclock. Upshot is (excuse the pun) that these CPU's are very prone to temp changes. So what you have is quite normal. The water cooler brings it down to about 26 degrees idle, but it still suffers the fluctuations when it does work. Allegedly, they won't thermally throttle until around 90-95 degrees c, so nothing to worry about? This 65W TDP is pure nonsense methinks!! PS Use the MSI Software to auto adjust the fan so that it doesn't change speed so often, it is annoying out of the box the way it speeds up and down, or set it to a set speed that doesn't annoy you so much at the lower end? It's in Command Center Software.
It's been out of stock at that price for a couple of days Their non-deal price (which is still in stock funnily enough) is more expensive than the current Amazon deal.
