I think the faster newer chip is worth the £40 to be honest.

If you can get these individually cheaper than that then please share!
A quick look and the cheapest I can find for the CPU is £187.50, and the board at £115 from AWD-IT.

You're nuts if you think that the 2600X is better than the 3600. It's notably worse, even at the same clock speed. Having a slightly better motherboard is rather pointless if you're sacrificing the quality of your CPU to get it. Not that this bundle is a particularly good deal. The Strix board is a case of paying more for aesthetics alone.

For that budget picking a better motherboard for future upgrading the CPU (which if having a 3600 for now obviously is the case) is better.
Bit of common sense really
A 2600 (ebay-Currys), Asrock B450M Pro4 (ebay-eBuyer) and 16GB @ 3200Mhz (CCL) set me back £243, thanks to this site.

I know they're different products but when OC'd @ 4GHz it isn't far off what this offers, and costs £40 less with RAM included.

Personally I'd wait for a better deal.
You're paying for them to have, presumably, done the BIOS update so this board will actually boot with a 3rd gen CPU. If it's no more than RRP is could be worthwhile over buying the parts separately if you don't already have a compatible CPU to perform the BIOS flash.

The AM4 only really has one more Gen in it before DDR5 rolls out and AMD have to change it.
Even then the B450 will be fine, though even like an X470 there is no guarantee.

The 3600 is much better than the 2600 while a higher tier motherboard add nothing to the now performance wise. Anyone looking to upgrade next year, will not be buying a 2600X this year.
Pretty disappointing motherboard from experience. Grab an Asrock B450 Steel legend (which is ryzen 3000 ready out of the box) for £90.

I'm with the "good B450 and a 3600" crowd. Whatever ends up cheapest way to get there.
Im looking for a 3600 combo can anyone link a decent deal? Ill want 16gb of ram too. Cheers
