Amazon for warranty is ALWAYS the #1 choice.
Never really had an issue with Overclockers but they should offer better delivery options on there higher priced stuff. Don't understand why they don't allow a free delivery option but i guess its there choice. I know a lot of people prefer amazon over a lot of companies so that is why i posted the deal, probably the cheapest option for this CPU at the moment.
What happened?
I've never had an issue with them. They've always been great with me whenever there's been an issue and have price matched several times in the past.
Free delivery via DPD for forum members too.
i think many take offence to them binning their cpu's based on how well they overclock then charging a premium for the best overclockers well pretty much guaranteeing that if you buy a standard price one it will be bottom of the barrel, most people want a shot at the silicon lottery. also most companies will offer free shipping on high price items to everyone not just forum members.
you want the best clocking 8700k? well that will be 900 quid please oh and another £8.70 to ship it, ta
however i haven't used them so can't comment on their customer service, looking at some reviews it seems quite good.
again this isn't a review just pointing out some observations i've noticed while browsing hukd to try and help answer your question
Think you're a bit harsh. I had a problem with an IN warranty graphics card and one hard drive, they sorted both OK
Good info.
I dont think I've ever bought a CPU from them but I'll certainly use someone else for them in future.
If that is the case with there binned CPU's then i probably wont be buying from them in the future for CPU's. I never understand the big craze for highly binned chips, more than likely your going to be paying a huge premium for a couple of 100 extra ghz stable. I kind of enjoy the thrill of buying a cpu or gpu and not knowing how its going to perform when overclocked.
They also delid some of them also.
But the company is called overclockers so it's hardly a surprise they offer services related to that.
All completely optional of course so hardly a reason not to use them.
They have some good deals even if you have to pay postage.
Isn't the 1700 a better deal considering you get a cooler included.
OP might want to add that this comes with the Wraith RGB CPU cooler also.
Depends if you need or want the extra performance and whether you are prepared to overclock yourself to get it. I have the 1700 and haven't overclocked it yet. But I can tell you that the included Wraith cooler is decent and fairly quiet and it looks the dogs bollocks when lit up.
They refused me a £10 price match on a motherboard despite it being cheaper almost everywhere else and that doesn't include the extra delivery they charge.
Fuck 'em
No, this is just AMD doing the opposite to Intel.
They give us a choice - either get an awesome CPU on a budget with a perfectly capable cooler OR for £10 more if you already have a cooler, get a cpu which might be good for another 100-200mhz.
None of this K rubbish.
The choice is ours and both ways we win.
Done, thank you for notifying me.
Wouldn't the packaging/seal be broken though and you'd know they'd opened it up to test it for overclocking ability?
Market forces speak their mind always.
mostly they bin the oem versions so there wouldn't be any retail packaging, but on the retail models they do bin then yeah they would indeed have to open and thus remove the packaging. Iv'e heard they test the cpu to make sure they work and also offer delidded versions as part of the service. For most of us penny pinchers over here this binning practice and charging extra is generally frowned upon, however for someone who isn't concerned with the money (ie lucky gits :p) and is just after the creme de la creme of the OC'ing cpu's then this might be a welcomed service.
Depends if you want to use that cooler and if you want to mess around with overclocking to get a bunch more performance.
On the subject of Overclockers being a terrible company my experience with them lately has been quite positive it's just the cringe worthy videos they keep releasing that put me off.
When was this as the company has had new owners for a while and supposedly they are a solid company nowadays?
In other news, I've ordered the r7 1700, just waiting on the ram. thanks Leeman20 for the post
