Not voted either way, no offence to OP but circa £130 (+/- a fiver) has been the price for about 7-8 weeks. It was circa £140 before that for a while longer I think. The last deal went over 1000 deg so looks like you could be getting that heatwave badge but then HUKD is nothing if consistently inconsistent!

It's an overall very good value for money chip: good value for money for gaming (not the best value though we all have different views "future proofing" etc. of course) and great value for money for productivity with all those threads. I'm not an Intel or AMD fanboy and I'm happy to see AMD providing strong competition to Intel and grow their market share although my feeling is most gamers still own intels (82% according to the last Steam survey but like all stats they don't show the whole picture) and that might change over the next 12 months unless intel pull a rabbit out of the hat.
was £125 yest from ccl, but gone up a little.. least this comes with free delv.
I have the Ryzen 5, 1600. Do you think this is worth the upgrade? I'm not a gamer, but I do video edits on my Gopro which can be heavy.

This would be faster , but I reckon by about 30% in actual rendering .. the rest will be the same speed . Maybe get an Nvme SSD or a bigger SSD ??
6 vs 8 slightly faster cores .. Y not?

Well it depends what GPU and monitor you have. If you have something like Rx 580 and 60Hz monitor, then don't bother. Better upgrade your GPU, or get better screen. This will give you better boost of pleasure from games. Or if your want to upgrade CPU, get Ryzen 3600, it has significant bump in performance
I'd drop a few more quid for the 2700X
Heat from me... horses for courses, the other deal doesn't include the game pass

A few more quid from where? About 154 from the same seller.

can easily push this to 2700x speeds too.
am tempted by this to update my old intel i5 4570 cpu to go with my newly ordered rtx 2060 super

If it's any help I upgraded from a 4th gen i5 to a 2600 (coupled with a 1070ti) and the difference has been incredible especially with video editing and rendering.

Word of caution some of the gaming performance leaves a lot to be desired. A good example was Hitman 2 which ran like a dog on the 2600 until some patches came out to addressed the issue - it's a single core/dx12 issue apparently. So if you've a game you play regularly, it might be worth checking online to see if there is any Ryzen performance degradation.

Remember that you'll need a new mobo and ram (assuming you don't want an obsolete mobo which won't use the CPU to its potential) if you swap to AMD so a big consideration especially if on a budget.

Basically the same as me then apart from I whacked 32gb in mine after an ebay glitch someone spotted on here about 18months ago which meant I got 32gb for £90 . You'll not regret it though and 16gb will be plenty for gaming.

Haha bet when you turn on the 670 you hear it crying rather than hearing the fans

This is by far the better deal as you get a free game worth £20-£25 and a xbox game pass for 3 months worth £20. You can sell the game for £15-20 on ebay too. No comparison between that deal and this
When asked the customer service they weren't sure if you'd get the game pass and game as it was through ebay can anyone confirm?

I imagine you would as it is still sold by CCl

Get that, patriot viper steel 4000 for 80£ and MSI tomahawk max and you are set. Don't forget to overclock both CPU and ram with tightening timings. + You can upgrade CPU up to 12 core later on.

But no free game pass and game that costs around 20-25£
With regard to selling this code on, the AMD terms state the usual that it must not be sold, exchanged, transferred, offered as a prize etc etc. But it also states:

"After participant enters the Coupon Code, Participant may be asked to download a product verification tool to confirm that the Eligible AMD Product is installed in the Participant's Windows system. Eligible AMD Product must be installed and detected using a Windows operating system to complete the redemption verification process."

That reads to me that even if you sell the code on, someone then might get caught out not having the right AMD hardware?
I see someone on ebay is selling one of these codes for a similar thing on a graphics card and he's put in the ad that you need to have one of a particular graphics card for this to work.

Even if it is possible to sell on ebay, I think you would need to price at about £10-15 for people to buy it from a non bulk offering outfit that tend to be more reliable. Plus fees will eat into it. Plus you might have to stipulate the requirement for AMD hardware.

I'm wondering if it's worth the hassle when you can get the 2700 from laptopsdirect for £121 and be done with it.
Good price tbh with game and 3 months of XBOX game pass. Heat added.
Thank you for posting; we have added this thread to the Highlights pages
Could someone give pointers on a new build based on this or similar please.

Is the integrated graphics worth a punt or should you be looking to upgrade to a dedicated say geforce 1650 or should that example save some cash and do a let's see moment.

Budget £500 or so, but would need to be a whole kit with screen kb mouse

Is it possible?

I was comparing it at £165 so £154 is even more reason to go for the X if it was me!
