would it be worth buying this to upgrade from my intel core i7-2600k with 24GB Ram?

I would say so, but in my honest opinion try to find a deal where you get the 3000 series ryzen cpu instead. As they are much better than the 2000 series. I have the Ryzen 5 2600 and the 3600 is so much better. If not, you could go for this. (P.S. You cannot use the same RAM in your current build as these new builds require DDR4, and I think your RAM is DDR3).
Crazy price, heat added.
Great CPU for multi threaded workflows. It’s really low TDP can be a good or bad thing, depending on your needs. Rubbish board though, and I’m not the biggest fan of the supplier

UserBenchmark is quite unaccurate, there is no way a second generation intel cpu has minimal difference than a latest mid range Ryzen cpu

Whoa! It's way off.

Passmark CPU benchmark:
Intel Core i7-2600K 5408
AMD Ryzen 7 2700 15721

On those performance tests the AMD is 3 times faster!

I'll delete my earlier post in case it misleads anyone. Thanks pointing that out.

Yeah userbenchmark used to be fairly useful a few years ago. They were already in a decline but unfortunately last year they decided to fall completely off the cliff by reducing the importance of multicore performance and introduced an "effective" CPU speed to help provide weighting to Intel.

3600 is only about 14% average better performance than a 2600 in games. I wouldn't call that much better.

And this price for this 2700 + a B450 board is pretty damn good. a 3600 alone would set you back about £165.

Well in game performance there is quite a big increase in fps, plus i did say try find a bundle with a ryzen 3000 series as its already out

Depends what for, for gaming you would look at I5 9th gen + or for content creation likely I7 or I9.

In the techspot test it averaged 14% over a bunch of games tested, both setups using an RTX2080 to remove any CPU bottleneck.
With a weaker card like an RX580 the difference was even less. TBH any of these modern Ryzen chips are good for games. Even the little 3300x quad core beats the 2700x octacore in most games. GPU seems to be the biggest effect on FPS. Even a little cheapo 3300x does amazing when paired with a meaty GPU. Just wish GPU prices would drop a bit.

The big difference was really noticeable in heavily CPU bound esport games like CS:GO. Although average framerate and maxes would look OK, there were some serious frame time and lows that would really frustrate in game at times. Zen2 fixed all that.

Agree with you that for most every other game they are more than fine though, the latency issues just became apparent when you're dealing with 200fps+ within CS. This is the argument that userbenchmark makes.
Would this run flight Sim 2020 with a 2060 super?
As opposed to the ryzen 5 3600

Would this run flight Sim 2020 with a 2060 super?

it can run it... just not very well. 2070 Super can run it at 30fps on ultra. So, expect to bump down the graphics settings a lot. flight sim 2020 is the new crysis, its really hard to run, even on high end cards
Be happy woth it on high to be fair looks like 50-60 on YouTube with ry5 and 2060 super just wondering how much fps I could expect with the ry7
