This is getting ridiculous value now. AMD is hell bent on getting everybody a ryzen processor. Good for us
Opinions, is it worth waiting for Black Friday / Cyber Monday?

If you want a 2000 series Ryzen I would say not. I think the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals will be 3000 series chips. Sales for the 3rd quarter are expected to have slowed. I guess AMD are hoping to end the quarter on a high with the 3950x next week.

I have no info, just gut feeling.
Great price but a downgrade from my older 1700X.

Userbenchmark should be banned and on all adblock lists.

The Ryern 3600 is another good option in this price range. Better at gaming and almost the same multithreaded. I would recommend that as well.

Thanks for replying, I'm thinking of getting a 3600 to start me off

The 2700 is definitely faster/more powerful than the 1700x. Same number of cores and threads, but around 5% faster IPC, and generally will boost slightly higher, and should be able to be easily reach 4.0 GHZ on all cores (4.2 in some cases). The 1700x is still an excellent cpu, but the 2700 supersedes it in every aspect.

Plus it runs on less power, so less heat, so more overclock room..
