As a current Ryzen 2600 owner would anyone recommend this as a worthwhile upgrade for gaming performance? Or should I just wait until 3700x drops to ~£200?

For gaming you wont need to upgrade et all for now. If you have a mid range card like GTX 1070 and below you would hardly see a few fps difference on games, so no point upgrading.
Is it worth moving onto this from a Ryzen 5 2600 if I have a Vega 56?
Should I buy this if I have a Ryzen 2600?
How much of a performance increase would this be over the 1500x? Would it still work with a b350m motherboard

Not really worth it tbh. Performance increase would be minimal.

You might need to do a bios upgrade to make it work, also I can't see it being a problem but you should check your motherboard manufacturer website though to be sure.

Nope, you'd be better off making the jump to the 3600 for gaming.
For those consider ING an upgrade from a 2600, it won't make a blind bit of difference in games, unless your streaming - in which case it might help. For encoding and heavy productivity, rendering etc, the extra cores will certainly help. Games would benefit more from a 3600 or 3700 etc, since they have better IPC and single core performance.

I have this processor and love it for anyone wanting/needing 8 cores and not wishing to pay nearly twice as much for the 3rd gen.

If it's just gaming your doing and your not a super heavy multitasker, a 3600 might fit you better at roughly this pricepoint.
