I bought this CPU just before xmas along with a suitable ITX motherboard & 16GB memory from CCL as a treat for myself to replace an i7-3770 and paid £137 for it from CCL who handily are only 3 miles from me. £126.50 is a great price for a very capable CPU.

Its a good CPU and gained about 33% or so over the fairly decent but ageing i7 which did a great job for 3+ years. Comes with a decent Cooler too which if you have a motherboard with RGB inputs you can program the coolers LED colours/strobe/flashing effect....I prefer just solid blue as below

Here's a chart with comparable single core performance vs some other CPUs including my old i7-3770 (with some CPU's in-between cut out)

Plus is Borderlands 3 isn't too your liking, then sell the code on ebay...I got £27.50 for mine

Excellent find, hot
Gotta love how the prices are still coming down for these, I know Ryzen 3000 is already out but these are powerful chips in their own right. The 2600 was this price not too long ago

Sorry it must different for the Cpu's and Gpu's, just realised there is two packages "Radeon raise the game" which let's you pick from borderlands 3 and breakpoint, and "ryzen equipped to win" which let's you pick from 3 games, what a deal though!
Absolute deal!
There is no way 3700x is worth 2.5x price compared to this.

Which itx motherboard did you go for?
Insane 'bang for buck'.

Mid tier gaming performance with workstation class cpu grunt all for about the same as a bottom end i5.
This is fabtastic, couple this with the 5700 and the tomahawk max on sale at the moment you can get a very capable gaming PC for 550ish.
If this had been the 2700x I'd have bit the bullet without a doubt, but for another £35 I think the 2700x is what I'm after. Still a good deal, heat given!
I've been following the PC Enthusiast scene for a while now and it still baffles me that £125 can buy you a 8 core processor that can beat £350 i7s

Get that CPU instead of Ryzen 3600, as extra 2 cores will provide more smoothness of game-play (I think it is more important than just higher average frame-rate) when something like antivirus and other software will run on background (something almost no reviewers never really test, as they test on freshly installed Windows with no software running at the same time with game).

Which itx motherboard did you go for?

This one Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO WIFI

along with this memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB and a Samsung 970 EVO NVMe SSD to boot from (previously had Samsung 2.5" SATA SSD)

All in all the upgrade cost me £110 as I sold the i7-3770 (£80), old ITX mobo (£77), 16GB Corsair DDR3 (£46) and SSD (£33) on ebays FVF £1 listings along with the Borderlands 3 code so I'm quite happy my initial £371 spur of the moment investment (I'd been umm'ing and ahh'ing for months) didn't cost me too much in the end. Of course it did help the components I replaced where all fairly nice components in their own right and still commanding fairly decent prices on ebay

Lets not get hyped here please. The 'PC Enthusiast scene' is full of b/s.
I own a 2700X, I sold my i7-8700K for a lot of money. 2700X is nowhere near 8700K (£350).
The only Ryzen cpu what would compete with that would be 3800X (which about same price).

Edit: Ryzen 2700X it's about same performance in games as a 2015 i7-6700k (which my wife has in her gaming PC).
As I mentioned earlier, Ryzen 2700 is an AMAZING deal for £127, but it's well bellow i7 8th/9th gen in games.

That's only going to be the case for next year or so, as games not yet optimised for 16 threads due to higher amount of Intel CPUs on the market and especially 8 thread CPUs in current consoles. But we know for sure that next consoles will have Zen 2 8 core CPUs and suddenly 8 core CPUs will become industry norm.

A bit of history, just see how performance margin was getting smaller over the years between FX 8350 and i5 2600. With more and more games utilising more than 4 threads, FX 8350 got faster than i5 2600.

I didn't compare it to the 8700k, which by price to performances beats it and is not too far from it than ofc it's not better the 8700k

AMD and their fans are saying this even since FX series with 8 cores were launched in 2011.

It is far. I have owned a 8700K until september 2019, when I got a sale for 2700X and sold it.
They are in different leagues, when about gaming.
There is no club here. I am no fanboy for any of these 2 companies.

Of course I loved my 8700K, but when you can sell a cpu with £275 used on eBay, and buy a new 2700X + MSI Mortar + 16GB ram for the same money, it's no brainer.

You know that saying ''Grapes are sour, when you cannot reach them''. Yes i7 are expensive, there are people who don't care about money, but let's not bash them, if we can't afford them.
Not sure what difference you would feel between a Ford Mondeo and a BMW 5 series in the city or on motorway, but there still are plenty of people who buy BMW, even if they are terrible price/performance deal.

Yea, I agree that Intel at the moment is top performer with i9 9900K, but it's price . So how many people will go for that? At mid range there is AMD 3700x that produces good frame rates at fraction of i9 cost.

I agree as well. With limited budget, 3700X is the way to go. But I would still get 9900K if I would earn maybe 50% on top of what I do now.

Pic from the other side (this is with my old i7 prior to fitting new cpu/mobo hence the dust on the Gfx cooler)
