Heat, great price
Okay. Decision time... will this drop lower on Friday or not. Thoughts?

I would be happy with £139, the price of 2700

It's looking highly likely to be £137, not sure what knock on effect it'll have on the existing 2000 line up if source is correct.

There already low at £119 for RX570 and pretty sure RX590 is around £149?

I've chosen this 2 months ago.
10-20% slower than 3600 in games but faster in applications using more cores (i do some photo/ video editing) and much cheaper.

If it drops to 139 I am one happy bunny
This or 3600/3600x primarily building to play football manager and so other less graphics card intensive games (4x stellaris, turn based, age of empires).

For your needs even r5 2600(x) for £100 will be a overkill... New AoE is very memory hungry on some maps it can eat up nearly 12gb of ram.

I have 32gb of ram in my system, no swap file at all. I have AoE running on maximum settings and with ultra HD texture pack, game with fresh map loaded takes about 5gb of ram and close to the end of skirmish game eat up lot more

Might want to climb down there buddy. They are right - AoE II DE uses a lot of RAM. More than 12GB in fact in some configurations.
Excellent price. I paid £149 for a 2700X in used condition from Amazon Warehouse yesterday which is starting to look a bit stupid and impatient

He's not wrong it really is a memory hog as most reviews confirm.

The ultra HD texture pack eats your RAM.
3600 is better choice.
why do people pay extra for the x version, i thought all ryzens were multiplier unlocked anyway?
Thanks Kinio - only thing is with football manager I want to try and load as many leagues as I can with largest data base - budget for a cpu is around £200 max. Would you still recommend 2600z FYI I am going for min 16gb possible 32gb ram depending on Black Friday offers

Higher power limits, base clock and turbo, better chance at silicon lottery...

Some r5 2600 I had in the past where unable to OC to 2600x base speeds

Where are you hearing these rumours?!
Damn some of these prices. This is roughly what I paid for my Ryzen 5 2600 just over a year ago.

For something like that ... get a used Xeon.

Actually, I'm kind of only half joking. If you want to play something that does a lot of number crunching, then you could pick up an X79 or X99 board on the cheap and populate the memory to infinity and beyond on the cheap.

But if you want to be a normal person and buy everything new, then yes. I have a Ryzen 5 2600 and it works perfectly well. It runs everything I throw at it. I have it paired with just an RX570 and 16Gb RAM. Despite the leaps that AMD have made recently, I don't expect to have to feel I need to upgrade for another 3-4 years at least.
Great chip for the 60 / 75 hz freesync gamer. Probably streams that use too.
I will wait for the 3700x to drop below £200 ..
I dont think it will take as long, there is nothing wrong with the 2 series.
