Isn't it better value to buy something like this below ? I am looking soon to upgrade my old i7 system so just looking around.

Intel Coffee Lake Core i7 8700 3.2GHz (4.6GHz Turbo) CPU, ASUS Prime B360M-A Motherboard Pre-Built Bundle NO RAM £359.99

amazon.co.uk/Com…1-1
No Buy ryzen 3600 and a b450 motherboard plus 16gb ddr4 at 60 quid.

Much cheaper
Pre-ordered the Ryzen 9 3900x with Scan and still waiting for them to get the stock. They were expecting stock on 17th, that didn't happen and new expected date is 1st October.
Got this processor, amazing. For the record, I do get slightly better fps than my mate with a 3600 and i'm future proofed with 2 more cores, definitely worth the extra over a 3600 if you can spare the cash.

only get a board that's know to support the processor, had issuses with a MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, USB devices weren't being seen, was a complete headache - sent it back in the end after all the issues and replaced with a X570 board.

True that, the MAX version of the B450 are the ones to get, I got the Tomahawk Max and it is great the new bios has sorted things out regarding the boost saga(overblown if you ask me) new bios gave me more overclocking options also

A big no.

The 3700x is comparable to the 9900k in many benchmarks and effectively as good in real world use. An 8700 on a B mobo doesn’t compare.
To compare to that bundle you need a 3600 and b450 which is cheaper and much, much better.
Bought one around two weeks ago and it's a beast of a CPU. Video renders are super quick, and watching something on my second monitor like a twitch steam while gaming causes no issues at all, CPU usage stays at around 40% for majority of tasks. Paired with a RTX 2080 I don't think I need to upgrade anything for at least 3 years. I'm getting great FPS on CPU intensive games like BFV and GTA V with graphics mods.

It's paired to a MSI B450 Gaming Plus Max which has caused me no issues at all since I've had it, PBO and XMP are working just fine.

Interseted to know what your temps and voltages are, please? Also have you managed to stop it boosting when idle?

My temps are around 65 degrees while gaming but tbf I've gone with a silent build so I have a Be Quiet Pure Base 601 case which is not good for air flow at all, and a scythe mugen 5 rev b CPU cooler which only goes up to 1200rpm max.

Yes, I've managed to stop that issue by sticking the AMD cool n quiet feature on in the bios, never thought I'd have to turn that on but it truly does work, volts stay at around 1v when idle and goes up to about 3.9 1.39v when gaming so I don't mind it too much. All in all I'm pretty chuffed with the combo I have, I may just swap out the fan on my CPU cooler for a decent speed noctua one and I'll be sorted for CPU temps.

Just incase anyone wants to see my build, here's the parts list on pc partpicker: pcpartpicker.com/lis…WYT

3.9 V supplied to what? Certainly not the CPU.

How is this better value? It's £320 and Amazon are doing the same game pass offer, in fact it's AMD's offer.

I suppose so, on CPU-Z it comes up as 3.9v while gaming. These CPU's are known to run on high voltage and I've been told 3.9v isn't too bad. My i5 6600k was OC'd to 4.7ghz at about 1.41v fixed for the last couple of years and it ran fine tbh.

EDIT: Sorry I'm a fool, I meant to say it goes up to 1.39v, not 3.9 that would be bizzare haha

What about this? With 32GB of ram too. I just want an easy swap I.e. take out my old mono and plug and play with this one.

Works fine here. ABBA BIOS fixed boost issues too.
This looks like good value?

awd-it.co.uk/amd…tml

With 32GB of ram it comes in at £545.98 which seems like a few years of very high level gaming.
Down to £299.99 now, direct from Amazon.
