It's a good price for the 5800x but it still costs 10% more than the 5700x and you're not getting 10% more performance with this.

Varies on load and silicon lottery. 4.7GHz should be the minimum boost if that makes sense. (edited)

Folks concerned about the 5800x having heftier power usage compared to the 5700x: if you want you could enable 65W eco mode and essentially replicate having a 5700x with very little pwrf loss, and a not insignificant power saving.

both are a good upg from the 1000/2000 series ryzens if all you do is game and don't want to spend 700+ on a gpu. i would save 17 and get the 5700x and put pbo on myself but that would be just me. if you are going to get a £1000+ gpu why would you not upg your whole system to take advantage off it. I know this is the 5600/7600 but you can still see the diff in the new am5 cpus. 6650xt is a better 5700xt so 2060ti/ 3060 non ti is your nvid equivalent

I recently got the £180 5700x and bunged it in my 2018 b350 after a couple BIOS updates - will likely do me another 4 years before I think about upgrading again and I don’t even have to reinstall Windows, crazy value for money from AM4 and will stick to AMD on that basis alone unless it seriously poops the bed in next few releases.

I'm looking at this and a 6600 xt or 6700 xt with 32gb ram and maybe a m2 drive as I think they are faster then a ssd? I'm currently running a 4790 with a 1070 sc card and 16gb ram with a normal ssd, would what I'm looking at building be a good jump from what I currently have for gaming, thankyou

Sounds like you're early doors? I assume you already have a budget? If it were me, my advice is always start with the case... and work on from there. Plus it'll give you storage to store all your other components whilst you order/wait for stuff to arrive.

After case considerations, probably power supply for me? Then you need to decide whether you're going to be team Red or Blue

I'm running a 3700X on an Asus X570 mobo and there is hardly any difference overall....Think i'll save for the 7000 series and an AM5 board myself.
