    Its time has passed (edited)
Time has passed.. when it's still the best gaming CPU on the market?

Ahh, I can't mention one of the retailers but Overclockers have 5800X for £239.99. Surely that works out better value
    FPS per £, probably.

However if you have an older AM4 system, upgrading one last time to the best chip might just be a cleaner path than saying "well I'll get the 5800X now, then wait for the 5800X3d to reach a certain price and sell the 5800X"

Still waiting for sub £300, then I'll bite. With the cost of AM5 parts still high, I'm going to build an AM4 rig from scratch I think. Guessing this is probably the best CPU I can stick in it!
If building from scratch now I would probably go AM5 for the future upgrade potential.

Having said that I recently upgraded my 3600 to a 5800x3D and it’s been well worth it.

Too high. Come on let prices fall. Don’t let pc gaming be too expensive.

I really wanted to get this, but ended up going for the £180 5800X last week.

Yeah and wait until January 5th for delivery. I'd rather pay the extra tenner and get it from UK delivered tomorrow
Yeah , it was the 0% that I was interested in.

    This or the 7700x?
Depends, complete new system 7700x, if already on b450 mobo and above then this for gaming.

Tempted to upgrade to this from my 2700 and ram 16gb to 32gb.

Might get lucky and have the import fees refunded later too. I got my 5800X from Amazon US for £256 in April 2021 that way (as did a bunch of people on here).
Import fees refunded? Tell me more.

I've ended up buying one of these, my work gave me a £50 Amazon voucher that I didn't really know what to spend it on so £290 in total. Could have waited for further price drops I guess.
Already sold my old RAM and CPU to someone else for £230 so a fairly cheap upgrade!
