no mention of added games on this one, if you care
Bought. Expected delivery Friday.
Unbelievable price and from a respected retailer, super heat!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Such a good price... but I don't want to upgrade just yet. The old 5820K still has life in it yet and all I use it for is gaming

Edit: Productivity king but really not worth it over the 3600 for gaming at a sensible resolution:

Depends what you're doing with the CPU.
If you're gaming what GPU you have and the resolution you play at.

I have a radeon r290x and game at 1080p. Maybe I should wait until I get a higher res monitor. But the fan noise from the gpu is very loud on heavy load and it's so annoying!

This won't help your GPU noise. This CPU would be wasted at 1080p, probably better off getting a Ryzen 5 or maybe 7 and upgrading your graphics instead.

You will need to cater in a new motherboard and ram too.

Yep. The gpu is excellent and still plays latest games at max settings under 1080p, but the fan noise almost as loud as a hairdryer!

Yeah they are. They don't call them blower coolers for nothing

Have you set a custom fan curve? Might help somewhat.

Not sure what a custom fan curve is will google it. Some people suggested running the fan at 60%, might give that a try. But the noise is the single reason why I want to upgrade it. Will see, thanks for the advice.
A GPU overclocking software will allow you to set a custom fan profile so that the fan spins up to what you set depending on the temperature it has reached at that moment in time.

I usually have it low up until around 50-60c and then slowly ramp up up until 70c and then let the curve max out at 100c. It'll never get that hot but having the curve that way never let's the fan speed get too high either.

Does it worth an upgrade from an i7 4770k?

I've just upgraded to a 3600x from a 4790k. Worth it as I can sell my old CPU for around £120!
Has anyone had experience with trying to claim the game bundle with an "OEM" 3900x like this? I'd buy this in a heartbeat to upgrade my 4690k if I knew it was included in the promotion. £40 is more than a worthy trade for a retail box as long as I can claim the games.
Why is it opened but not used? I always get confused with these sales.

Either way hot! You can get an additional 10% off with CompleteSaving cashback (10% off eBay).

Yo I know you from overclockers. Nice stuff there. It's within 30 days, the £15 you can claim it back with the monthly bonus every month you get £15 back, it's pretty much free the cash back site.

That is odd. I just gave ccl a call and they told me the games are not included in the OEM listing as it isn't advertised on the listing. Either the person I spoke to was given the wrong information, or you two got very lucky with those codes.
Some information regarding the OEM 3900x on CCL eBay - directly from CCL via Phone.

- The 'OEM' CPU is exactly the same as the retail but without the retail packaging or instructions.
- Includes the stock Wraith Prism Cooler.
- Includes the exact same 3 year warranty as the Retail version, No restrictions.
- Supposedly does not include the 2 games & XB Game Pass. (However, gupsterg and Rimuru have both said they got the AMD Rewards code so results may vary.)

So in conclusion: Buy the £429.99 OEM 3900x if you do not care about the games or the retail box, OR, if you are willing to take the risk of possibly not getting the AMD Rewards Code as the AMD Rewards promotion is, and I quote, "not advertised on the listing".

Personally, I am not willing to take the chance for only £40 in savings. (Plus I kinda wanted the retail box for better resale value)
Hope this helps someone make a decision.

Received mine today but it does 1833 Flck max, my old 3600 can do 1900 easily. Had an email with both codes as well. Great price and it's a productivity beast, Adobe Premiere finally can handle 4k videos without a problem.

Sour taste is the packaging ...

imgur.com/a/x…RT1

For a £490 purchase (as that is what CCL would have got) it is poor packaging ...
Luckily the plastic clamshell seems to work well....

My R5 3600 from launch has been stomping 3800MHz C16 1:1:1 (FCLK:UCLK:MEMCLK) on 4x8GB @ 1.35V. A R7 3700X I recently got max was 3733MHz on same HW, when I used BCLK tweak to check how far it would get on FCLK it was ~3.5MHz shy of 1900MHz . Will soon see what the R9 3900X can do.

They must have seen just how many people were ordering the OEM cpus and took the banner off to entice people into buying the retail one (to make them more money possibly?). Considering how shady CCL have been with raising the retail price to account for the ebay sale I would not be surprised if they stopped giving out the game codes after they took down the banner.

You certainly got a cracking deal if your chips FCLK does 1900 as well. even at 1800 you got a great deal!

Looks like I'm going to go for the Retail version and pay £40 more for Retail Packaging and guaranteed games.

Price on that CPU on ebay by CCL has been at one point ~£460, then they bumped it twice IIRC.

When I targeted 3800MHz on my R5 3600 I found out which slots on my mobo favored which dimms. This held true also for the R7 3700X, ie same dimms favored same slots, it also seems the R9 3900X is the same also .

Initially I set 3800MHz 1:1:1 (FCLK:UCLK:MEMCLK) on the R9 3900X as I would on the R5 3600. ProcODT 43.6, VDIMM 1.35V, VTTDDR 0.675V, SOC 1.062V, CLDO_VDDP 0.927V CLDO_VDDG 0.980V, this failed Kahru RAM Test 8% . I bumped ProcODT to 48 and failed Kahru RAM Test 80% . Again I bumped ProcODT, went 53 and Kahru RAM Test upto 460% and going .

Unfortunately I can't read the screenshots as they are only 640x360 pixels, what ram sticks / rated speed are you running? I was looking at getting the Patriot Viper Steel 4400 cl19 and under clocking to 3800 cl16 or 3600 cl14 if my IF won't go to 1900 as they are only £100 for a 16gb kit. Either those or the Team Group 8pack Xtreem 4000 cl18. £239 for a 32gb kit on that one. Both seem to be fairly high quality Samsung b die as far as I'm aware.

You must be using mobile device, if so place browser in desktop mode, then linked album will be 1080P.

I'm using F4-3200C14Q-32GVK.

I've had Patriot Viper 4000MHz C19, not a patch on the G.Skill kits I've had.

I've owned:-

F4-3200C14D-16GTZ
F4-3200C14Q-32GTZSW
F4-3200C14Q-32GVK
F4-3600C15D-16GTZ
F4-4000C18Q-32GTZ

Used those on ASUS ROG Crosshair VII Hero WiFi on Zen/Zen+/Zen2. I reckon the 3200C14 kits been best for my HW combos.

Other thing about the Patriot Vipers is the heat spreaders just fell off one day . I just returned the kit after that.

So so so majorly annoyed right now. I ended up buying the retail version on the 13th. Arrived Today on the 14th. Got my game pass code... No 2 games codes.

THEY TOOK THE GAMES OFF THE RETAIL LISTING. Contacted them to get this sorted out. If they don't honour what they told me on the phone, that I will 100% get the games if I buy the retail version, then I'm returning it and never using CCL ever again. I knew I should have gone with Overclockers in the first place.
You will get the games I did with the retail version.

Just called CCL, "we ran out of codes before you ordered, no codes are available to allocate to you"
asked to return and refund and they magically said they will try to get a code for me instead of returning.

Crazy the things a company can do when you say "i would like to return the item"

purchased it just now on Overclockers for only £10 more just in case ccl cant get a code, I was buying my ram from OcUK anyway so no different there. Asked Overclockers to hold my order until i get a call back from CCL so I can just remove the 3900x from my order before it ships if they find a code for me.

Little update on this. Hopefully anyone who has this same problem can get the same result as me.
As mentioned I called up CCL to ask why I didn't get the games code email. They said they had run out so I asked to return the cpu. They then said they will try and get me a code so I wouldn't need to return the 3900x.

RESULT! they are now advertising the games on the listing on their website again so they must have "found" more stock of codes or they just got more from AMD.

Either way, I now have my codes and I'm glad it's all over. Hopefully I have got a good 1900 FCLK Chip after all this hassle! Fingers crossed.
