Absolutely insane price- not seen reviews of this, but if AMD's recent form is anything to go by then this will demolish all market competition. This CPU could conceivably survive for years. It kind of makes me regret recently buying a 3600X for £200, but...hey, mustn't be greedy. And at least with my B450 motherboard I could upgrade to this at some point!
Great deal if you need all the PCI-E lanes and memory bandwidth along with the 12c/24t this offer, but if you only need the performance of the CPU then the Ryzen 3900X works out a better deal for the most part. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on some of the newer TRX40 boards and matching CPU's though!

You can't this is for x399 motherboards.
Quad channel but no pci4. 3700x is a much better value and more powerful.

Apart from the fact the 3900X costs at least £100 more possible £150 and most have delivery times of January.

The cost of the X399 boards at a minimum of £260+ means the the differences in cost are minimal, especially given the fact that the 3900X will run on the likes of the MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX which is only ~£99.

As for the stock situation, I guess it depends where you buy it from as the parts are becoming more widely available, even if you take the gouging of Scan at £523, then you are within £30 of the x399 + 2920x combo.

Really useful to know. Didn’t know the boards were so expensive.

TR cpu is not a gaming platform,so comparing with R5 3600 does not make any sense.

Yeah I’m not seriously considering it now. If it fit into an AM4 socket then yeah sure!
Unless you desperately need large amounts of RAM/PCIE lanes you'd be better off buying a 3900x.

Yes, it's around £200 more expensive, but has better IPC, faster clock speeds, cheap B450 boards (Even a high end Tomahawk can be had for £80 or less) and a future upgrade path. Once you add in the cost of a x399 board (Cheapest brand new on Ebay is £250) you're looking at a marginal price difference.

Agreed particularly the lack of upgrade path for the pricey motherboard since the new Threadripper series is using a different socket.
