AMD Ryzen ThreadRipper 3990X 64 Core Processor

Price drop of £104 Today for this from Novatec, and the cheapest on the web by that amount to...

The new AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990X is a 64 core, 128 thread processor designed for the high-end desktop market. The CPU is a variant of AMD’s Enterprise EPYC processor line, offering more frequency and a higher power budget, but fewer memory channels, fewer PCIe, and a lower memory capacity support. The 3990X is at that cusp between consumer and enterprise based on its features and cost, and it’s ultimately going to compete against both. On paper, users who don’t necessarily need all of the 64 core EPYC features might turn to the 3990X, whereas consumers who need more than 32 cores are going to look here as well.

Complete overkill for most! if not all folks but there will be someone out there looking at this CPU!, well its a deal for that one or two individuals!

Spot on Solado.

The 3700x was a knockout blow to intel, it does everything the 9900k did at nearly half the price.

the 3950 and the TR CPU's are like aliens coming along using plasma cannons to take out a bunch of dogs with 3 legs.

Might be a tad overpowering for Solitaire or Tetris though! Jeez, who buys these things outside those needing high end workstations for research or heavyweight graphics applications?

Needed an upgrade for my 90's beige box - seemed a bit big for the socket so I used my junior hacksaw to make it fit.

Now I just need to find another 128Mb of RAM and I'm pretty sure it'll be sorted.
This will be £356 in two years.
This gonna be the first purchased item of I won the lottery.
Please be aware, if you're nuts enough to be interested in this, that it isn't compatible with regular consumer Windows 10 - you need to be on an Enterprise edition for it to address that many CPU cores.

But the 9900k is still the king in single thread loads. Once intel move to 7nm or even 10nm it will be back on top.
