Excellent cooler for the price. Especially if you have a small case and can't fit something like an evo 212 comfortably

Cheapest price I've seen recently just bought one myself.

The AMD Wraith Prism represents AMD’s ultimate cooling solution for

air-cooled processors. The Wraith Prism goes where no stock cooler has

gone before with per-RGB LED control around the illuminated light ring

and transparent fan blades for movement and rainbow color effect

control. But the Wraith Prism isn’t just a pretty face; we’ve increased

motherboard and RAM compatibility by minimizing the profile and added

direct-contact heat pipes and fan overclocking control to increase

thermal effectiveness, too. User-controlled RGB illumination relies on

socket AM4 motherboards that support this feature, like the ASRock RGB

LED, ASUS Aura sync, Biostar VIVID LED DJ, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, and MSI

Mystic Light

Great price. It’s a little noisy, however it does the job it’s supposed to do. Temps remain at 50c under pressure.
people pay £20+ for these? I think i just threw mine away (and i've had two or three of them)...

Get close to 20 quid on ebay for them if you sell them used. I guess if you get them standard with a high tier ryzen you'd likely want to upgrade the cooler anyway.

For a stock cooler though I don't think there's many, if any, that are better. It's a least competitive price wise at £20 with aftermarket coolers for around the same price.
I've got 3 fans already in mine tou think I can swap one out for this as I bought complete gaming PC but am finding lot of bits are cheap standard parts doesn't even have internal wifi have USB device the fans are multicolored all 3 seem basic

If its a stock cooler you have on your cpu ( Intel, for instance) then yes this would be a good upgrade for it.

This isn't just a fan it's a CPU cooler so it's not interchangeable with case fans. If your PC has a Ryzen CPU then this is probably either the same as what you have already or a slight upgrade which I'm not sure would be worth the money. If it's an Intel based PC then this wouldn't be compatible at all.

As far as fans go, broadly speaking fans are fans. Some are certainly better / more efficient / higher quality etc. than others but as long as they move air in the right direction they are doing their job. If you can link to your PC or it's full spec then I'm sure I or others here can make some suggestions if you want to upgrade.

This is for Ryzen CPUs. It's not compatible with Intel without some major DIY work.

Would go with the be quiet as it would be quieter although lacking RGB of course. An alternative is this deepcool model which comes with a larger 120mm fan although it is LED but you can always replace it with another one. You wouldn't be able to mount a 120mm fan on the be quiet cooler.

Part of me thinks It might be over kill for my new build bearing in mind I won’t really be gaming just photo processing and video editing....just thought I’d do it properly from the start and invest in a better cooler

Fair enough, either of the two will serve you fine and would definitely be quieter than this wraith prism cooler although it itself isn't too loud.

So fair to say stock ryzen 3600 cooler, prism then the be quiet one in that order but for my needs either of the after market is acceptable

My bad I shouldn't have referenced the Intel specifically.

Even for a stealth wraith upgrade though this one is the much better of the 2. Spire is also pretty close to a prism and could probably get one of those for next to nothing if the budget was REALLY tight.
