These are great except if you put them in any sort of water to wash them that is above " luke warm" the plastic starts coming away from the metal handle

I had the Aldi copy of this and same thing happened , plastic comes off of breaks...
Suggests that there's something inherent on the design or maybe both use certain materials and glues. Otherwise if made properly this shouldn't happen.

So they are not great?
I have this or something very similar and don't have the above problems.

But the problem I do have is that the little fibres from washing up sponges easily get caught between the plastic and metal somehow, and it can be hard to pick them out!

Edit: Also the knives are no good for spreading butter.

i'm going to sound like a complete hypocrite now and utterly contradict myself ...

I love the design, especially the knives they are great as they work as great steak knives too ...

but the plastic comes up, and water gets under the plastic and rust? builds up under plastic really noticeable on any color that isnt black.

But i keep buying replacement ones from Charlies as they sell individual pieces for £1.50 each

Seems like they should be a safe buy with the manufacturer's 25 year guarantee
Stick to a good 40 year old set of Sheffield stainless. It'll still be around when you're not

this is the only issue I have with my set.

no issues otherwise.

These are a lovely set but no good for spreading butter. Had to buy their matching butter knives for that 😋

All other Amefa is half price too. I'd recommend getting any set other than this one.
Never buy plastic cutlery

Why can some people have no problems and others do??... guessing it's the same reason people have problems with tv's.. car's.. kid's!! And some don't
