Edward Norton gives an impassioned performance as Derek Vinyard, a Southern Californian skinhead who must do time after committing a hateful murder. Once in jail, his mind opens and he sees the error of his ways. Upon reentering the real world, he must now turn his attentions to his younger brother Danny, who is swiftly heading down the same path as his brother. Controversy surrounded the film when director Tony Kaye disowned it, claiming that Norton had the film re-edited without Kaye's permission. Norton still got an Oscar Nomination for his intense performance.

Amazing movie - in my top 10

Awesome film. I loaned this out a few years ago and have never received it back.

Never seen it so I bought it along with this (one of my favourite films):

Ahhh Pom. It's a great film. A bit relentless from the word go. And Edward Norton is awesome.
Enjoy it. I'm sure you will.

thanks for posting - ordered

Amazing film. Back in the days of UCI when I worked there while at uni, we had to have our favourite film underneath our name on our badges and this was mine. I'll always remember the day I refused entry to a drunk bloke who proceeded to shout "You're a racist, you watch racist movies" when he saw American History X on the badge! Alcohol dependence AND complete lack of intelligence... how unfortunate!

Didnt the director want to change it so that it would have been directed by Fred Flintstone or something like that?Due to Ed Norton editing the film, the director wasnt too happy about it
Great film btw

fantastic film would highly recommend, fantasticly shot and great story,
a must see i would say
