American Tourister by Samsonite San Francisco 4-Wheel Suitcase, Black Medium.

Reduced from £60 to £30. Have had the larger version of this and it is a really good suitcase!

Nothing wrong with my Ctrl, C or V keys so from the Tesco site:

Just ordered one - thanks

Bah. Annoying size! A few cm too big to be used as hand luggage, but too small to be useful as a hold bag. Great price for what it is though, for anybody who isn't looking for airline sizes.

Bought one of these in the boxing day sales for a similar price and think it's a great product! Fits in all the luggage compartments upon Virgin and East Midlands trains too.

Only negative is that the retractable handle is sometimes stiff when lifting it out.

I currently have 3 suitcases, two are for weekend/long weekend kind of three nights max. Another is for say 5-6 nights in winter or 7 nights summer hols. But the other is huge like two weeks holiday to USA.

I am looking for a suitcase for say 7-10 nights usage. How many nights would anyone who has it say this case is for?

Thanks

Depends where your going, you could fit 30 t-shirts an 10 pairs of shorts in or 3 thick wooly jumpers and a big coat, hat and gloves.

It also depends whether you're male or female.

It's capacity is 38L. I can do a week in Prague (so heavier clothes) in November with a 44L CabinMax bag. But I'm a bloke. If you're a bloke, you could probably just about manage it in this, certainly in warm weather places.

If you're a female however, experience suggests you may prefer one of these ...

(Heat for the price BTW)

Thanks for all the advice. I measure my number 3 suitcase and this is a good few inches bigger but still nowhere as big or bulky as my number 4 (the biggest one) so I have gone for it. I am hoping it will be perfect size for a week in Portugal in June. Last year a similar holiday had to take the number 4 case and it was far too big. Always need a bit of extra space to bring back a few bottles from the supermarket over there.

Ordered for collection tomorrow , thanks op

Looks about the right size for my wife - judging by the capacity shown on the end - but do you have the dimensions as I'm not sure if it would qualify as cabin luggage ?

The dimensions are in the description?

As is the comment already saying it's too big for cabin luggage.

Pretty cheap stuffing her in a suitcase though. Just get her a seat man! She'll love you more for it ....

This suitcase is 61 litres, not 38.

You're quite right - my bad. I think I looked up the small version by mistake.

However, regardless of the extra capacity, the original point of my post still stands.

(And, although the small version I got that capacity from is indeed cabin bag size, it's kind of heavy - at 2.57kg - for cabin luggage.)

61lt combined with 40lt in hand luggage is plenty for most people as long as you are not planning on taking suits and long evening dresses.

Do not buy this model.

The handle is flawed. The handle clamp hands easily while you push it down.

Both my wife and I have experience this few times. Despite I knew the flaw, I still clamped my hand on it two weeks ago when I was in a hurry.

You just cannot be careful enough with the handle of this model.

When I contacted American Tourist for refund or credit, they ask me to send the suitcase to their service centre for inspection. Apparently there is a charge for inspection and I have to pay for postage. And I gave up on this pursuit. I was not expect such low quality of service.

Now I replaced them all with £60 Samsonite 4 wheels Base Hit from Amazon.

I just picked mine up from Tesco. I played with the handle, and couldn't physically get the handle to go down without pressing the button.

For £30, the quality is great. TBH I'd be happy if I'd paid £60.

You need to press the button in order to push down the handle.

While you push it down, it will clamp you hand easily if you are not careful enough. Most time it is the Little finger at risk.
