  • This Offer is available until 23:59 UK time on 13/09/20 (the “Offer End Date”).

  • This Offer is only valid for purchases made on-site at UK small businesses that are participating in our Shop Small Offer. Purchases made online from a small business’ website will not qualify for this Offer.
  • To view participating UK Shop Small locations please visit the Shop Small Map. Eligible locations will be highlighted with a Shop Small badge and the map will be filtered to ‘Shop Small’.
  • Small businesses listed on the Shop Small Map may change and your ability to redeem Amex Offers may be affected during this challenging time because of changes in some small businesses’ operations, such as reduced hours or suspension of in-person shopping, dining or services. Business location and other information provided on the Shop Small Map may contain errors. The operating hours and services provided on the Shop Small Map may vary. Agreed. Surprised as well. Shame everything is closed and there isn't anything worth spending on in my city

Also on Platinum Amex cards
Great news
Many thanks for this, will make full use of it on my 3 cards.

I love it when you get the email letting you know the £5 credit will shortly be applied to your account after buying something from somewhere you had no idea was taking part Worth saving the offer even if you don’t plan to use it, you may be surprised. Online purchases have qualified in the past too even though they say they don’t
🔥
Thanks op- isn’t this early this year? We are usually away around Christmas and it’s such a rush for me to tear round and use these. Nice to have the extended time on there too, instead of the usual 2 weeks

Normally it’s around the first week of December from memory. It looks as if they are trying to drive footfall to the high st and help the smaller retailers
Also on AMEX Nectar card
Thanks for this - a few of my local takeaways are part of this apparently.
Thanks for posting
Thanks for posting @idontflycathay A good move from Amex to support small businesses as they re-open and those who have operated a reduced service during the last few months, such as takeaways. Amex cover the £5 so I'd encourage using this where ever you safely can to support your local stores.

Last time it was rubbish, nowhere around had any decent offers.
Thanks for posting- have added
Yes, Amex are covering the £5 back but the retailers in the first place are charged a higher percentage by their merchants to cover Amex payments than if normal credit or debit cards are used... because it's a reward accumulating credit card. Of course the retailers pay for it in some way, that's why you'll still find plenty of shops that don't accept it.

Its not as bad as it used to be, they've been actively encouraging smaller businesses to sign up to accept it of late.
Most small places in London accept it.
is there a 'number of excemption reached' before the offer is pulled?

Good way to support local shops. Shame they now have restricted to x10 transactions
it's not until 22nd June! don't get bonkers today
perfumes
Super hot, added to my Amex platinum cash back, thanks OP

BA Avios has no fee
Fantastic news! If the offer doesn't appear under 'Available Offers' then live chat amex and they'll manually enrol your card(s).

Looking forward to doing the 'crawl' during the summer rather than in winter for once!
Thanks for this - just checked my BA Amex and offer in on there too
thanks for posting! very helpful!
Last time, I had very bad experience with it. At least 4-5 shops declined to take Amex as they said it was way too expensive to keep it running. And 3 stores were on the shop small map and no cashback was triggered eventhough I spent around £20.

The CS agent on the chat did manually process cash back for the ones where transactions were posted on the card. The agent also took details of the stores which declined to accept Amex card and promised me that I will get cash back but it never arrived. I was too lazy to follow it up.

A big bank helping small businesses? You know this is just a PR stunt to get more money from small businesses

How so? I thought Amex funds the shop small incentive themselves to drive acceptability of their card at more locations, so in that sense is marketing money, but they don't ask the shops to pay for it or am I wrong there?

So what if it's a PR stunt? It increases spending at small businesses at no more cost to them than the standard Amex card processing fee.

Same here, no store listed on the map within a 1 mile radius accepted my Amex so I just gave up.
