It works out roughly 1,11p per one Avios after bonus, might be useful for some of us which need a top up prior travel.

Horrible offer. Instead just refer three friends for AMEX card and if they spend £1000 each then you get 12,000 points for FREE. No need to spend £335 to buy 10,000 bonus Avios points.

It’s buy 20k and get 10k free but at 1.1p I’m not a buyer. A 50% extra Avios buy deal has just ended which is the same as this offer.

Unfortunately you can't do the whole refer someone, cancel and then re refer again 6 months later as its now 24 months wait.

Went through years of referring family, cancelling and re referring again

Ah now mine were for travel in South America LATAM flights exceptionally good value, e.g. Galapagos, though I've visited a good chunk of the map there now on Avios. So many changes to Avios, remeber the days of no taxes, I got to Australia and back just on Airmiles before it all changed.....

Oh yes those were very good flights! With taxes/fees running at around £600 now for business class it’s priced me out even if I could ever save the miles. We would have to pay for seating too as a family of 4 so gets pricey. I prefer to a cashback card and I’ll book a package holiday and sulk at the back!
very bad offer.
Does anyone know what other cards offer avios points?
95% of flights booked using these Avios would be more expensive than buying directly by cash, example London to New York 13-20 November,

if bought by cash: £279 bought directly on BA website (also £245 Norwegian available)
if bought using airmiles: 26000 Avios + £ 375 = £661 (assuming 1.1p per Avios as within this offer

True but remember Avios flights can be cancelled outside of 24 hours for £35 vs non refundable.

sure, depending on ones risk I would normally prefer to loose £245 if I wouldn't be able to fly than to pay £660 and fly (and loose £400)
also if paid by cash you earn Avios, if paid using miles you don't

Economy long haul is generally a terrible use of Avios. Reward flight saver for Europe or long haul Club World or First you can generally get more than 1.1p of value.

Just booked Munich on Dec for 15500 Avios and £50 in Club Europe v £350 which is 1.94p per Avios.

So even at 1.1p you are saving here.

Personally not a buyer at this price as for me there are cheaper ways.

Oh absolutely when it’s clear cut like that but during school holidays for example it can bounce the other way. It changes again for different classes before we get onto availability. That’s a great cash price for NYC!

Isn’t this something unethical to do ? Surely Avios points are earned the hard way. Why should customers be paying a higher fare when paying using Avios points? What’s the point of accumulating Avios points then?

In the USA they give the things away like candy with credit cards - we only have a benefit when using things like a 2-4-1 amex voucher which has to start from the UK, or as previously said, the reward saver for European flights...

As mentioned above there are 5% of flights where it makes sense like summer holidays, xmas period, business class etc. Some value flexibility, some may use it to buy one way journey home if they missed their flight - there are good uses of it, but most people I know that don't spend too much time reading about it would end up buying that flight to New York and thats why BA is keen on selling them cheaper

Yes but works out better for BC and FC .. not cattle class
i use the companion ticket with the amex and this is a nice booster to get us up to 1st class for next years trip, it wont work for everyone but if needing a booster to use FC or CW then it is useful
