get Deal works for me? http://www.amiko.co.uk/store/satellite-and-terrestrial/digital-receivers/amiko-1/amiko-a3-full-hd-digital-smart-set-top-box-and-satellite-receiver

trading arm of lavatronics
cold not worth the price..
why open box sat recievers are £40 and a lot less capable than this full 7 day cross epg enigma 2 channel lists etc
also full android 4.2 play store so Netflix etc if you want
Like the look of this, I've used enigma boxes before and I'm a kodi user. Just want to check that I'm not making a mistake here.... This has a single tuner and I can ftpmy cline onto here, does it use vix?
Stick with the Z-gemma Star S Box's.. 55-60 quid, and work a treat...

No kodi on there? Isn't as pretty and doesn't come with a gyro remote.

uses Oscam and Web interface for setting up lines from what I can see won't have mine till next week star boxes have internal sata enclosures and 7 day epg?? skybox f3 works fine but no where near as adaptable

It runs KODI on it, but don't recommend though..

Google - Amiko A3's Problems, there is a big list lol..
I would stick with Z-gemma or what i have personally - Technomate TM-Nano 2.. Brilliant box and rock solid

Got me one for the living room. Replaces f5s and laptop for kodi connected by hdmi, dlna to himedia q10 in the front room for local files and pop a 1tb hdd inside and I'm happy!
Got me interested, thanks

Hmm, looks like I might be in for a bit of fun then! Can't justify much more of an outlay than this though so technomate is out and I really wanted one box for kodi and sat so I'll have to see how we go.
Can the sat be used to get sky chanels not illegally you know what I mean nudge nudge?

it uses its own software not any Linux based builds as far as I'm aware of, no need to FTP a Cline you can simply enter the details onto the Oscam App.

I've had one since launch, its a nice neat little unit with a funky remote but the single tuner really cripples it usability and its still not 100% even nearly 2 years after launch.
Oh one good function it has which isn't widely reported is it can stream video to any tablet or phone using the spark App, HD tends to be laggy and out of sync but SD is perfect.

Pretty much every type of Android/Linux box has issues in one area or other, for basic duties the A3 runns absolutely spot on, no issues now running sly via CS and Kodi works fine on it. Problems are with EPG's and apps not designed for use on a box like this.
any recommended decent boxes to replace my existing sky box ( only used for the free channels) and kodi ? I would love to reduce the amount of av sources!
Anyone recommend a decent sat box with dual tuner. Nowadays you need to be able to record and watch another channel. Currently running a dm800. But need that second tuner.
Hmmm. I've read all the comments on this thread and the product page but I'm still a little clueless as to what this does.

Am I right in saying it's similar to an Android TV box, although it receives its channels via satellite?
How does this differ, is this better than an Android box?

Thanks guys!

It is an android box which also has a satellite tuner. Connect it to your satellite dish and you can watch fta channels. Google "cline" for info on another feature of the satellite tuner.

General opinion is that a vu+ duo is the one, my friend has one and it is a good machine but I struggle to see why it has the price tag it does. He had a dm800 before the vu and the vu is an improvement.
Minix box for me all the time...
it's spark 2 but can use enigma channel lists
Can any of these boxes run tvheadend or similar? Just want to serve my freesat over ip to another tv but wasn't sure if openbox could do it.

Not anything like one of these A3's, you're barking up the wrong tree!

vu+ duo is a very old box now, the solo2 is a much better option. just got rid of my duo and replaced it with the solo2 4k

googled a3 problems seems to compare to £120+ e2 recievers that are probably better than this for statelite stuff but I'm buying for the play room where in refuse to pay £10 per month multiroom (yes I pay sky) of its crap will ditch it on eBay

enigma 2 are really good the technomate is a well known e2 reciever £160 and nothing else but with the loss of hd I'm cutting my losses I have a separate vpn wifi in my house that I use for torrents streaming etc all done with an updated £8 Router looking for a fallback box just in case
Got 2 of these things, great bits of kit. Remote can be recharged by a supplied USB lead (supplied), also has a gyro controller and air mouse which is good for showbox and other apps that need a mouse. EPG is ok, I have mine set to record to a NAS and rarely get any glitches on TV signals wink wink. You can download channel lists too so don't have to mess around putting usb sticks in the back of a box anymore to update channel lists etc.
Remote doesn't need line of sight either. My A3 boxes are both hidden away for tidiness sake.
Had no issues at all with either box. Stream to PC, iPhone and iPad with ease. Runs oscam so can do any cam easily.
Kodi runs well and as it is Android based can easily run vpn or smart DNS (watch premier league pass on Kodi on the A3)
Had an Amiko 8900, Eagle Box mini and DM500 clone prior to this and is the easiest one to use and best by a long way IMO. Like everything it's personal preference but for £20 more than an Openbox (setup a fair few as well) it's got to be worth the money.
I think there is a new version coming out hence why they are getting rid of old stock. One thing. I've used f5s in the past but did not like the epg etc. Are these newer boxes better. I'm not very experienced on this but for those who want kodi and sat in one box Google wetek play.

Only FTA and BT sports via cam isn't full HD in Kodi either on mine for some reason.
Got mine yesterday and is everything I hoped for! Not had any problems with epg or otherwise, only set up sat so far, kodi and android tonight but isengard runs well so far and works great with my nas. Well worth the pennies, an unbelievable step up from openbox for an extra £25!
I've seen the wetek but wanted something faster. only need for kodi and FTA stuff.. suggestions...

gotta say I got mine yesterday to amazed the channel list and picons that lavatronics supply wasn't what I wanted but downloaded Mrs buckets e2 list and picons off the tinternet and found them must better got kodi 15.2 installed but the Mrs started moaning so left it till tonight to add repositories but so far kodi seems solid and just as fast as my quad core stock that bit the dust. the remote is very well laid out and responsive may plug in a Bluetooth mouse and keyboard into the back for typing out the kodi paths don't see why it wouldn't work worth noting it is £99 now so expired
