Amira Pure Basmati Rice (500g) - 10p @ B&M

LocalFound 12th Jan 2016
Short dated (December) but rice is absolutely fine past it's BB date... in fact 'aged' basmati rice is typically more expensive!
Marked down from 49p down to 29p but scanned 10p.

Found in Blackwood, but I did empty the shelf (of all four!) so not sure if they have any more in the store room. Price should be nationwide if you can find them...

This is superb 'clean' tasting rice. Highly recommended.
The longer Basmati rice is left to mature, the better the flavour and texture becomes.

This is a bargain, stock up and don't worry about the date on this one.
Good deal..well done
Good find. Ignore BBD on dry rice.
Beasties tend to grow in it if it is old.
Well December is still far away ...
Has anyone found it on another B&M.

This is true. What you should do is keep it in an airtight food grade container and store it indoors, preferably just in the kitchen. This way, it will take a very long time (talking years) for anything to go wrong with it. I once stored some in an old cooking pan with the lid on and banged it in the garage. A few weeks later, there was moths in it! but properly stored, never had a problem.

It is technically. But an allowance can be made on certain food stuffs, generally grain and non refrigerated food, so long as it's not well, well out of date, and it's clearly pointed out that it is out of date.
Definitely going to be local deal only

If any store has them with the same date they'll be reduced to 10p...
Indeed. B&M should've thrown it in a land fill rather than near enough given good quality food away.
I have no problem using common sense buying out of date products. This is a good deal. My local Co op refused to sell me a bottle of chilli oil from their reduced shelf because it was one day out of date. More mindless landfill.
Hot deal but i bought a packet once for a curry for some friends, everyone commented that the rice tasted 'funny"

BB is different to use by date.
Best before date is a guide only. Any dried product should be safe to consume well beyond the best before date. Properly kept rice should be safe for a long time after the best before date. Far too much, safe to eat, food is sent to landfill and is a stupid waste
Tried 2 stores in Blackpool, none. No 10p sweet baby ray's either

That depends on what you mean by out of date. According to the Food Standards Agency (2014) -
"While it is an offence to sell food after the 'use by' date, retailers can, with the exception of eggs, sell products after the 'best before' date, providing it is safe to eat. Eggs have a 'best before' date, but should not be eaten after the date shown on the label."
We waste quite enough food without throwing perfectly good stuff away arbitrarily.
None in Leigh
This is not available in my Local B&M Store ...
