These lights all seem pretty good but they've all got really poor battery life, I've looked at the 400 and 500's too
I've got a couple of 400s and they are great commuter lights. Run time after a few years still exceeds the specs and they charge up nice and fast.

For urban road use I cannot see the benefit of the higher output ones.

It's a really really good light for that money. I've got the 400 and it's very visible and I found the battery lasts well.

Can't vouch for the light itself, but price trackers show this to be a fairly standard price for this on Amazon now (sometimes it's even been cheaper)

I paid £17 for what I think is similar to this. It's a great light.
Didn't realise stuff like this had gone up so much. (edited)

Is 500 lumens enough for helmet (given you have recommended 1300+ for the handle bars)? Thanks.
Yes, the idea being that you have both, the handlebar light(s) for a broad spread and the trail ahead, and more of a spot light on your helmet that you can direct around corners or wherever, and of course it can add to the main beam. Nothing to stop you putting a bigger light on your helmet if you don't mind the weight, or a separate battery pack if you don't mind the faff.

Beam pattern is just as important as Lumens, some cheap lights focus all the light into a tiny spot in the middle to get the numbers up, to me an even spread is more useful. There is a good comparison tool here.
