Groupon’s Guide To Amsterdam

Sitting on the south bank of IJ Lake, Amsterdam is a port city connected to the North Sea, with Amstel River flowing from south to north. Mixing vibrant nightlife and many diverse festivals with Renaissance architecture and cultural events, Amsterdam, the capital city of Netherlands, is a convenient spot for exploration and relaxation.

Guests can take a breath of fresh air with a stroll through the Erasmus Park, where ponds, gardens and local attractions make for a nice day in the sunshine. Moving inside, travellers can visit the Van Gogh Museum, which exhibits the works of the great master alongside pieces painted by his contemporaries. In this city of many tastes, tourists may enjoy Asian or Indonesian cuisine at one of the city’s restaurants or a dessert at one of the famous pancake houses, before renting a bicycle for a refreshing ride along the canals. Amsterdam also boasts shopping streets filled with a wide range of stores and street markets selling food and clothes.

The weather in the capital city of Netherlands features an oceanic climate, strongly influenced by the North Sea. The temperatures during the summer season are mild, with the average high of about 20°C. The city gets a great level of sunshine throughout the season. However, the average low temperature, especially in the evenings, reaches about 12°C. Starting from mid-September, autumn is a rainy and wet period, with October having an average of 13°C and November of 9°C. Amsterdam rarely sees the temperatures drop below 0°C in winter, with the average high around 5°C. The level of sunshine drops to one hour per day in December, but this improves as the season progresses. In the spring, the city warms up. Although March and April are still chilly, May is often very pleasant with highs reaching 20°C.

Wouldn’t go there even if it was free

Amsterdam really is a fantastic city with loads to do and see. It's not all about the hookers and coffee shops if that's not your thing.

this deal looks terrible. Set of one evening arrive the next morning after sleeping in bunk beds for the night. Stay in the city for about 7 hours before boarding again and sleeping in your bunk beds again for the night.

Good deal I suppose, but the remainder of the meals would probably be mire expensive than the whole package lol
Is it still possible to pay more and have a night in a hotel. The time in the city on this deal is incredibly limited (but fun nonetheless)

Been 3 times without trying the coffee shops. Lovely city loads of nice bars and places to eat.

Lots of people love this. Instead of going clubbing they party on the boat, visit Amsterday and party again on their way back home. Next day are off sick:). Nothing wrong with this deal, just a bit rushed. There are also options to pay for a hotel in Amsterdam and stay an extra night, which I prefer.
Hot, super price. A bit rushed, I've looked 2 days ago for this cruise from Hull, was £250 for 2 if I wanted and extra night in Amsterdam + the price of the hotel. It was during the week, in the school holidays in Feb, maybe this is why was expensive.
Does this include any food or is that extra?

Thank you
Is this good for kids or is it more chavvy booze up?
The boat is quite fun if you like getting drunk. Plenty entertainment. I've been quite a lot and always had a good time, usually end up getting a bit too messed up on the way there and have a stonking hangover in Amsterdam the next day.

There's plenty to do for kids. Last time I was on it there was Vicky The Pirate ("Yarrr! Vicky The Pirate here!!" comes blasting through the tannoy in your room when she's available) to take kids off your hands and take them around the boat while you go eat/drink. There's a play area, ball pit, kids cinema, etc. I'm going back 3-4 years here but I would guess it hasn't really changed much if at all.

EDIT: dfdsseaways.co.uk/onb…ent
Looks like there has to be a parent with the kids too. Makes sense!

Is there anywhere to park the car after you've got to the boat?

....and that's if the boat is on time. Ours was delayed for some hours due to bad weather so we had maybe 4 hours in total and then a horrible choppy journey back. I'd fly next time.

Yeah, £24 at the port or there is an outlet park nearby
You won't get 7hrs in AMS either. 45mins coach ride each way then 1hr+ at border control. Also expect to have to pay for the coach at time of booking. Very rare this comes in at under £50pp with breakfast and sea view cabin.
We did this last year with 2 kids aged 8 and 10. They LOVED the boat (we enjoyed it too - the dinner was fantastic). Unfortunately we saw very little of Amsterdam cos it absolutely poured with rain from the minute we got off the boat to the minute we got on again. I have NEVER been so wet in my whole life. Hasn't put us off though - we'll have another go a bit earlier in the year.
Don't book the breakfast on the way back cos there's a Brewers Fayre at the ferry terminal and kids eat breakfast free
Oh no, not this again!
Two nights bobbing about in the North Sea in Winter is NOT a cruise!

These deals are terrible. 7 hours in Amsterdam is not enough time, you spend most time on the boat with crap food and expensive booze.

Get a flight and stay over, we did 4 nights and we’re still skipping over things. At most you’d fit in 1-2 attractions and half an hour in a cafe before rushing back to the ferry.
Loads of great airbnb places
Would have been better if they had an option to stay over for the night in Amsterdam like some of the other ones I've seen
Done this to Esberg in Denmark. It is NOT a cruise. It's a ferry. Had a shock when I rang in the morning asking about park8ng for the cruise lol. Still enjoyed though great deal

I would say it's more of a booze cruise than a real chance to sample Amsterdam. There's a transfer to/from the centre to take into account too, so the time is limited, and believe me, the crossing can be rough lol. When I did it a few years ago, it wasn't the nicest of boats too, and cabins very basic, but what's to moan about at that price. If you're after a cheap boozy weekend, and don't expect luxury, it's a good crack, great for a quick lads/girls break 👌
Nice find

It's more of a chavvy booze up. But if you go expecting that then it's a reasonable couple of days. As others have said there's next to no time in Amsterdam itself. I'd try and get a hotel for a night. I assume that the ferry goes anyway for cargo so they put on cheap rooms and expensive food/drinks to make an extra few quid on the crossing.

We contacted them about not getting on boat back and flying home ourselves back to Aberdeen. They said we could just get a single ticket, this was more expensive so i think i'd just tell them getting off the boat we're spending a few days in Amsterdam and flying home :-D
