Hey,

I just got my Hero in the post this morning, I wanted to hold off and check this is all legit before I posted.

1800 any time any network minutes
400 texts
500 mb data

on a 24 month contract for £30....

An Orange sales guy walked into my dads shop a couple of weeks ago said i could have this on 18 month with the same deal but only 600 mins.

I phoned orange and checked the deal out and it all came back ok, so I ordered and low and behold I am plating with my beautiful new open source handset!

To get it, I had to email with the words ANDROID DEAL in the subject:

[email protected]orange-ftgroup.com

Lemme know which one you get...!

Or you could get the Dolphin £30 per month deal with 600 min, unlimited texts, and 500MB data from OSPS along with £210 cashback, making it £21.25 equivalent per month.

cashback = lame, and highly likely to mess up or not get your cash back. This is better.

I'd say this is only better if you need the minutes. If you don't, or you need the texts, then surely the option of £210 cashback is a better deal than one without cashback? It's still £30 direct to Orange with either one.

And anyone with an Android phone can sync their Google/Yahoo/Outlook calendars to set up reminders for their cashback claims...

Sure,

But my deal came with 24 hour faulty replacement, which isn't insurance but does mean if there is a problem with my hero I can get a new one immediately.

That kind of accountability I know first hand I won't get from a third-party...

Thats good, I had 900 mins, 500 text, landline, & 500mb internet, with insurance and free hero for £30 on 24mths. Cracking phone and on a good network. Great phone in it, bet you've not put it down :-)

nope not yet, i love how well it syncs with facebook and twitter... also i just got an app which syncs with my xbox live contacts.

Android will soooo kill the iphone some day soon...

I just got a g2 hero from t mobile well an upgrade, not sure if its an ok deal or not, tried for days for them to give me a deal that was amazing but just would not have it,they gave me the webn walk 30 plus tariff, more or less same as my current tarrif but internet upgraded to suit phone which was 300 mins,200txt and unlimited internet or she said 10gb per month.
She said that my current web n walk with my n96 was not good for the hero, its gonna be same price per month as i am paying including vat of £34 per month over 12 months,i tried my hardest to get the handset for free,or less they just would not budge so 64.99 for phone,i did not want 18months or 24 months contract.

Cashboack is a con, yes it goes through, I've had problems I have always done it right, online ones are worse you cant even go anywhere is person they just plain refuse to pay out, contacting them is anage of wait. Even my mate got a letter from carphone warehouse saying they could not get cashback because they gave out too much cashback that month! He ended up paying full whack £35 a month instead of £20. They rely on tactics to let some go wrong and people forgetting. Id rather leave all that hassle and get a good proper deal. If it works out for you that's fine. I know about a guy who owns the local cashback phone shop, absolutely minted. Maybe ive got it wrong but all "unclaimed cashback" is his!

absolutely. think of the admin overhead, if they expected to pay all of these they'd automate it or negotiate a drop down on the charged price to the end user to save the hassle.

And of course, since he pays it out who else's would it be if unclaimed? (or 'misclaimed', or 'lost in post', or )
