Use code "24764FC4CD" to get it at this price.

I spotted this deal on a German Chinese-Tech site that I occasionally peruse, so it's only available if you select the EU plug type, but I presume it will still be fine if you use a EU to UK plug adapter?

I've not had a play with a 3D printer yet, one of those things that seems to be getting cheaper and cheaper, but I'm still not sure I know what I'd use it for... Of course, I don't have any use for 4 of the 5 phones I've bought from China this year so that argument doesn't really work, but I can't throw a printer in my desk drawer and forget about it!

I don't really know what makes one of these printers good, or bad, but for what it's worth the reviews on the site seem positive.

I have a two 3D printers... one not dissimilar to this - build yourself, print better bits, etc. And I love it.
3D printing is a bit of a steep learning curve, with so many variables involved.. but a little perseverance and you will be off and running.

Uses? That's debatable! For me, I love to learn new stuff, whilst making or achieving something as a reward. As a former electro-mechanical engineer, a 3D printer hits the spot for now.

You can make all sorts of Tat' or spares for lots of items. You candesign your own stuff and print it.. to be honest its sorta endless.

Take a look at Thingiverse or MyMiniFactory to name but a few sites.

Is 3D printing for everyone? Doubt it very much TBH.. but for me, it is.

Think of a 3D Printer as an irritating petulant & truculent child, that needs constant attention & endless care.
And when all is good (it/the) can produce really cool stuff.... but it all takes time.

Here's a video of it in action, making a Yoda Buddha figurine (naturally)

I'm guessing speed isn't a selling point as that video was a 24hr time lapse!
Wait, good things come to those who shall
From what I've read, you get what you pay for. It'll print, but the PSU has safety issues, the acrylic frame is rickety, impacting on print quality, and you'll need to 3D-print accessories yourself to remedy some of the printer's failings out of the box.

Plus you have to build it, which may take 5 hours+, and your first prints may not work out that well if the printer's not calibrated properly.

To design what you want to make, do you have to get some kind of specialist software?
Where can you buy the conumables for this. Is it expensive to make anything ?

Sites like Thingiverse and MMF have tons of stuff to print (some good, some tat, some pointless, some impossible! )

That said I have got to a stage where I have printed off enough Pokemon for the kids etc, and now print much larger more elaborate models. For fun, and to just see if I can..

The stuff that fascinates me, are the 'print in one go' stuff, and when its done its fully movable, with joints and links, or gears all printed in place. I have also designed brackets for a garage door, and a speaker monitor mount, an Xbox under TV Kinect mount etc etc.

But my Fav is the door handle I printed for our freezer - £20 plus for a replacement - printed, it cost under a quid, and fitted perfectly, and with a lick of white gloss spray ... looks and functions exactly the same (personally I think it's stronger)

At the moment I am printing Tat .. Halloween stuff, using luminous filament. For Tat ... its actually quite good.

    Forgot cashback!
    Just ordered one.
Am I' being stupid but i can't seem to get this for near £110 - shows as £124 + huge shipping fees.
The thing I've learned about 3d printing is ......the recycling of prints, whether old or failed. If you are a complete noob
it will take you a while to get things right and if you don't have a very cheap source of "ink" then the cost will start to rise. I noticed it straight away after getting my printer up and running. I was printing failed parts and they were piling up in the office. Then I thought...... the only difference between a failed print and filament is the shape of the plastic.

In all serious don't buy a 3d printer unless you can either get super cheap filament or find a way to recycle your failed or old prints. The cost of filament extruders are ridiculously high for what they are.

I'm building my own version of a Lyman Filament Extruder V6 thingiverse.com/thi…870

Good luck if you do buy one.

Same for me. I select Eu warehouse etc:

And when I go to checkout, I find that shipping and taxes are over £30:

The code "24764FC4CD" gets me £7.82 off, so the bottom line price is £146.12 for me:

Well UKMail didn't even bother. Said no one was in at 5pm, which was completely incorrect, they obviously didn't even try. Apparently the package is at the depot, despite there being no depot in Northern Ireland... Seriously.

Recieved it yesterday, despite the tracking saying it was still at the depot. Got the electronics tested and about 70% of the assembly done last night. The only issue I encountered out of the box was that the extruder thermistor wires were bent and had severed. Wee bit of solder soon sorted that though. Hopefully get a print on sometime tonight!
