I think this is a fantastic film at a really good price for Blu-ray.

In Alan Parker's ANGEL HEART, based on the novel FALLING ANGEL by William Hjortsberg, a New York City gumshoe is hired to find an aging blues singer. Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke) follows clues from the ominous ghettos of Harlem to the witchy backwoods of Louisiana, where he takes up with Epiphany Proudfoot (Lisa Bonet), the beautiful young daughter of a voodoo priestess, whom he believes will be able to shed light on the growing mystery surrounding the missing musician. As Angel closes in on the truth of the case, his contacts start turning up dead. He begins to suspect he might be next. Parker (MISSISSIPPI BURNING) threads a commentary on the limitations of modern Western society into his sensual, suspenseful thriller. As the story unfolds, Angel relies less and less on his failing, overwhelmed rational mind (and handgun) and more on Epiphany's ancient mojo. Rourke captures the unraveling protagonist perfectly, and Bonet adds an erotic and mysterious edge with her performance. Robert De Niro is both funny and malevolent as Angel's mysterious client, Louis Cyphre. Shimmering with a beguiling mist of the macabre, ANGEL HEART provides an unexpectedly haunting dose of gothic noir

not seen it, any reviews?

My favourite film! Rourke has never been better (present comeback included). Definitely worth £5.99. The picture and sound are pretty solid for a catalogue release, but be wary that this is a deliberatley muted film, so don't expect many bright colours! A little disturbing, but definitely worth a punt!

Great film - I have both dvd and bluray and in my opinion the transfer is pretty poor

This is cut by 5 seconds by the BBFC. Not full film = no sale.

Ahhh, the film that introduced me to Gumbo :D.
I don't put quite so much meat in mine though.

Anyway, great film.

Great movie, can't afford to be updating my DVD collection sadly but this is one well worth having for those who can or don't already own it.

It is if you want to see the film how the director intended.

I haven't watched this movie since it first came out on vhs about 20 years ago. The fact that I still remember it quite well (especially the ending), must go in it's favour.

This cut is so minimal it doesn't detract from the film at all... One shot of cockfighting. If you're that keen to see it, make sure you watch it on TV next time - has been shown in all its uncut glory as the director intended on ITV1! Be thankful we don't have the original American cut of it, where they excised most of 'that' sex scene...

This one and Wild Orchid - both with Mickey Rourke - were my coming of age films those many years ago. "Sensual" is the word that immediately comes to mind. I wonder whether I would see them with the same eyes now.

Yeah, the US cut is even worse. I have the German 'Premium' Edition, but waiting for a fully uncut Blu. Great deal for those that don't mind the cut, but not for me;)

Got this for £2.98 at shopto recently
