I prefer the dab one so thanks for the link.

Hang on a minute is that the paul_davidson I used to work with on site who nicked my radio?

wilt

I'm the boss, so if it ever went missing so would their jobs and they know that. It's for everyone to enjoy, luckily I work with the same group of fellas for the past 25 years, things are different in N.Ireland, steal from a site and you'll never work on one again or be able to work again.

Surely if you want dab and Bluetooth together ,buy the dab option and get a Bluetooth adapter on eBay cheap and plug in your aux

i have been looking for lightweight impack driver for screwing wood builds. this one is as strong as my standard 18v bosch drill. battery is also better too. strongly recomend .
shopar_artiz

Finally arrived, heavier than expected, my other makita was lighter, but it is soooo smooth, much stronger than the makita. I only bought this to get the lightest possible, otherwise i would buy bigger battery 14v version. At the moment i am really happy with it. I hope battery lasts long.

Tom_Reys

Got on myself in past -It's excellent , Use Coupon: 72SUCVZ To bring it down to £113.96 Can't beat it at this price!

Looks good though 135Nm torque is no great shakes. I also prefer to work all my tools off the same battery system. Hot for the price though!

Toolstation only have the brushed ones.

championadam

I have a brushless and brushed version of this which I use every day as a mechanic mostly with 3/8 adapter. They are absolutely brilliant bits of kit. Sometimes I wish I'd invested in a different brand just because adding to Milwaukee (shared batteries etc) is so expensive, but ultimately the performance of these is perfect for my uses. While Milwaukee do make 1/2" and 3/8" (and square drive 1/4") m12 impact wrenches, I find that using a proper impact adapter (addax are excellent and cheap) gives you about 20mm extension which is (to me) more usefull than having the socket right at the nub of the driver. The wrenches might be marginally more torque, but I've never found these to struggle apart from where I would use a 1/2" air gun anyway... Great. 10/10 :D

sion51

These are very capable devices. I recently used one to drive 10” timber nails into sleepers with no problems!

GDB2222

Toolstation did a set of a 12v impact driver plus combi drill for only slightly more than this. The impact driver had no oomph at all, and the drill was DOA, so the lot went back and I bought 18v.

Like for like, halfords sets are cheaper to buy and lower quality. You are comparing a much larger set. I think you know that. If we are being pedantic, a top of the range kia will be simialr price to a lower end bmw.

Geemac

:/ But a BMW and a Kia do not cost the same ;) https://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/88-halfords-advanced-120-piece-socket-set-with-codes-2908892#comments

lemo

I bit like asking why would you buy a BMW when a Kia does the same job. Some people are happy to pay more for nice things. The fit and finish on Facom tools make them a real pleasure to use.

xmikebx

I'd never heard of them tbh until they started being sold by my local Mac tools dealer, but apparently they have a long history & association with Motorsport - "Alain Prost, one of the modern masters of setting Formula 1, often recalls that his first tools were provided for him by FACOM, which is still the partner of the Williams-Renault team, but also of Porsche, Peugeot, Citroen and Jaguar. Since 2011, FACOM has been the sports partner of the Sébastien Loeb Racing team, created by the nine-time world champion of WRC. In red and black, SLR defends FACOM colours in several disciplines (endurance, GT touring and Porsche Carrera Cup)." That being said, both of them brands along with Snap-On as well, are very much living off their previously renowned quality and the history. They were all good, but todays tools are overpriced junk in comparison.

deleted801301

True enough. I tend to buy Bahco sockets myself, I've always found them to be good and likewise have a lifetime warranty. That said, presumably Facom didn't get their reputation from nowhere, and there must be some good reason people pay this kind of money for them.

Only the newer Flexvolt chargers are backwardly compatible and can charge the complete range of formats, if you just have one of the regular 18v XR chargers (as you most likely have if you bought it with standard 10.8v or 18v tools) you wont be able to charge the new battery unfortunately.

In the region of £35 by the looks. Make sure you get the LXT-series charger, not the G-Series.

deleted801301

There's plenty of cheap angle adapters for driving, I've got a cheap Erbauer one from Screwfix (think it was about £12?). Its not really the same thing though- they're handy for driving screws, though a bit awkward, but I wouldn't want to try drilling with one (not if I wanted to drill with any degree of accuracy).

I'm pretty confident for my needs I wouldn't have noticed a difference and would probably have bought the light series if there was a saving to be made. That said, seeing as they are both from the current blue series range, if they were both equally capable I would have thought Bosch would do away with the Dynamic series altogether, rebadge the light series and up the RRP to Dynamic Series price.

Shengis

Bigger motor=more power usage=less working time? Maybe thats why the max RPM is lower, to save battery power. I find it strange the the 2 can drill a bigger hole in wood than the V. Also there is no rating on the hammer function in the specs of the 2 but it IS a hammer drill. I just think they're pretty much of a muchness. Edit: And the chuck on the V looks nicer lol.

KendallC

Did you watch the youtube vid in the link? I think the real difference is in the size/power of the motor as explained in the vid. Being a DIY user I couldn't say if the larger motor will ever be of benefit to me but as I was hoping this drill would replace both my old cordless and corded drills I went for the more powerful option.

Shengis

The spec looks pretty much the same. What am I missing? What is the actual difference.
