Bit of a niche thing but I thought for those out there with a taste for anime ( or maybe not but you have a couple quid to spare ) there is a sale of sorts on at Anime-On-Line. I say sale, it's just a specials section that is HUGE and has some seriously steep discount.

I've ordered from them several times and I received on the thursday when ordered monday night.

Might I also add. FREE FIRST CLASS DELIVERY .

Also, there is a clearance section that has some cheap and tasty anime treats if you look there as well.

All in all, cheap stuff. And that's why we are here, right ?!

About Us Section

Please Note: It is illegal to sell Imported DVD & VHS to UK customers.

Which means they are Region 2 UK releases so they certainly should do.

We broke the site.

someone's xmas pressie sorted, cheers

Hot from me, I would recommend Trigun, though I do hat anime that is parted out into single dvds, much prefer to buy the box set when I can.

I think it'll depend on each dvd :P Most will have an english dub but best to check... on Amazon per dvd as Anime-On-Line doesn;'t seem to list dvd features.

First thing I searched for was Cowboy Bebop and they don't have any xD

Second on trigun - it's awesome. gungrave is on there and that was really good too. added some heat there seem to be a few gems among the titles i've never heard of.

I remember buying a copy of School Days from a site like this

Turned up in a presentable looking sleeve, and inside was a plain black box Turned out to be a copy, from some eastern country were its legal (went through Paypal to send it back but it had to be back within 7 days & the cheapest way to do it in 7 days meant i'd only get like 50p back)

Still cant moan for these prices ++Heat

Edit: Rozen Maiden Traumend £1.99 a pop, i'm very tempted by this

Looks like it's just their usual prices to me. The best deals in the past have been the "dvd deal of the week" (button on the front page, changes every fri) but the titles have been kinda meh lately. They used to be posted every week on hukd but rarely made it to the front page. I think it's because not enough people realise that anime is more expensive than regular dvd series so either vote cold or not at all.

As for series to check out, i'm a sucker for slice of life/high school stuff

But ones i will recommend are

Death Note - Good solid interesting plot.... until about the last 3 or 4 eps where it drags itself out

Excel Saga - Parodies most genres of Anime, no real story, just bits & pieces scattered along the way or so until the last few eps

Elfen Lied - Dark story, a fair bit of fighting, BOOBS!! *ahem* Characters are a bit bland but enjoyable nevertheless, though i'd recommend the original jap dub as the English VA is a emotionless & the translating ruins it

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - Ok ok its not for everyone but i enjoyed it massively, gist of it... Girl has godlike powers, she doesn't know she has them, enter 3 people and a normal regular guy who know of these powers & try to stop her changing the universe by keeping her occupied.... seems kind of silly when you say it like that but watching it is a must

Lucky Star - No comment, high school life of 4 girls & their freinds, has subtle hints to other shows/games. EG one scene where Konata is in a Yuuki Nagato Cosplay (Yuuki beng from TMOHS)

I'm not really into the whole fighting scene so bleach, naruto etc i can't comment on. But Dragon Ball/DBZ is a must

Couple more that are Jap only

School Days - A beautiful tail of love and friendship

Panty & Stocking - Lots of short stories, Art style is reminiscent of Powerpuff girls etc (& other western cartoons) & they did a great job, plenty of Engrish in it and most of the music is chuffing awesome

Sure i've missed some shows out but i should be asleep now, and don't want to clog the deal with my posts xD

Anime On Line are MVM - their DVDs are just fine - Ive had dozens and no problems at all.

To be honest this doesn't seem much of a deal to me - most DVDs on sale are parts of sets and the entire set have been DVD deal of the week at £4.99 or £9.99 - no heat from me.; as Arthur says this seems to be their 'usual' prices.

P.S. Rozen Maiden & Traumend Complete was a deal of the week a month or two back for £9.99 complete.

Looking more closely this is a particularly bad deal - there are relatively few items at 99p or £1.99 - you often find all or most of a set at 99p each.
The deal of the week tends to best value so keep checking each week (the deal changes Friday evening).

P.S. Be wary about buying odd volumes from a set - you'll often find the 'missing' volumes aren't available or are prohibitively expensive; e.g. folks bought parts of 'witchblade' on special - then the whole seven volume set came up at £9.99.
At present Aquarion volumes 1,2 and 3 are just £1.99 each, but the best price on volume 4 is £15.99 from Amazon - the 4 disc set is the current deal of the week at £9.99 - a saving of £12 compared to the individual volumes.

Blade of the Immortal is still a good deal; I bought these a couple of weeks back, they're not bad - certainly worth a try at under £5. The complete three volume set is available individually at £0.99, £1.99 and £1.99 - the best price for the boxset is £17.89.

WOW I could spend a fortune

Definitely recommend Death Note, I loved every moment of it but already own it
Aww they don't have Wolf's Rain, probably the only one I would want that I don't own.

I'd recommend Full Metal Alchemist too but the prices don't seem so good from what I can see.
I enjoyed Ergo Proxy, Elfen Lied, and Darker Than Black too.
Anyone recommend anything similar to any of these I mentioned?

Thank you. I am a complete newbie and have only ever watched bits and pieces late night on c4. I generally like post-apocalyptic stuff in other genres so any other value sets would be greatly appreciated!

Litman is anime-on-line.com/xca…e=2 the right death note because there are quite a few?

FMA = Full Metal Alchemist
FMP = Full Metal Panic.

They're unrelated, and both awesome. The FMA was remade but I prefer the original. Rumour has it that the original ran away with the story after catching up with the manga too fast. Apparently the remake was to correct this, and is therefore more true to the manga. That said, it just doesn't seem as coherent or as moving.

FMP is fantastic. I wish the series would go on and on forever.

One of my personal all time favourites: Ghost in the Shell. Beautiful, sci-fi set in the near future, with nuanced ethical, political and philosophical flavours amongst the incredible CG cybercop action.

Sorry, didn't mean to suggest that both of you weren't aware of the difference between FMA and FMP, just wanted to clarify for others.
