There seems to be a bit of misunderstanding in this thread with the charging rates, which is perfectly understandable as Anker have recently become the master of confusion by throwing around standard terms as marketing.

Let's be clear: This is an absolute standard USB charger. There is nothing special about it. It does 2.4amps per port at 5v (2.4 * 5 = 24W they refer to). The iPhone "measurements" they're showing are for much older / cheap chargers. It's misleading to compare them.

It doesn't support any form of Qualcomm Quickcharge (Samsung + loads of others use it), Dash (OnePlus) or USB-C power delivery. It's nothing more than a slow charger.

Branded, Quickcharge ones are under a tenner. Cheaper, unbranded / generic Quickcharge ones are a fiver. USB-C ones are starting to touch ten quid too.....

Yes, that's in the region of a whopping £4 more, and I'm sure someone will soon say "That's almost double the cost"....but these are things you plug in and forget for years. The difference is less than a couple of cups of coffee.

IMO, Buy ones that actually have some form of quick charging based on your devices. Anker is a great brand, but their marketing and fake discounts (no way this is a rrp of £10.99) are getting silly.

Would this work on a motorcycle?

It should charge up your motorcycle just fine, as long as you can get it inside your car.

Samsung is only 15w, this is 24, so depends what phone you have.
Bought this last time on a deal and are really good
Thanks bought it just what I needed
I need one of these as the USB ports in our car have stopped working but I’ve seen a review that it only works with Apple/Apple approved cables. I tend to buy Anker braided or Amazon’s own lightning cables - do you think it will still work? Thanks
PS
We only have iPhone 5 and 6

It says not compatible with Qualcomm Quick charge which I thought Samsung uses or used to at least but on their later phones I'm not sure what they use.
So yes you may be right in some cases, maybe some Samsung expert can clarify on here.
So confusing nowadays with all of the manufacturers using their own versions of fast charging, makes choosing a third party one a minefield.

Depends what you class as 'fast charging'. This will do 5V 2.4A but none of the 9V 1.67A type stuff like Qualcomm fast charge or USB C PD.

AFAIK Power Delivery can only occur via USB C ports.
I currently use one of these, but find it don’t charge the iPhone X quick at all. Will the Anker one be better ?rover.ebay.com/rov…579
Not a bad price for what it is. There are loads of them around this price on Amazon.

I ended up getting a compact single one from Poundland for a quid, and it does fine for me.

Fast charge due to it having a 4.8a output

I use this one from Amazon. Charges just as fast as the wall charger for my S10 5G.

Ailun Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 Adapter,Fast Car Charger,Dual USB Port 35W,Compatible iPhone X Xs XR Xs Max, 8 8 Plus,7 7 Plus,6 6s,Galaxy s10/s10+S9/S9+,S8 S8+ S7,S6,Note 5 4 3 &More[Black] amazon.co.uk/dp/…AY5
TL;DR: This will not "fast charge" either Android or Apple devices, it will only charge them quicker relative to standard chargers. Charging occurs at 12 W per USB outlet.

Each USB outlet is capable of 12 W charging (2.4 A × 5 V = 12 W) giving a combined power of 24 W. This enables devices to charge more quickly than standard wall chargers which typically deliver 5 W of power.

The term "fast charge" usually refers to the Qualcomm Quick Charge or Power Delivery standard where power output exceeds 12 W. You can interpret this as special technology being needed to achieve this.

Samsung phones utilise Qualcomm Quick Charge 2 technology which draws 15 W of power (Yes even the S10 lineage even though QC 4+ is out) while iPhone 8 (Including models thereafter) utilise the Power Delivery (Whether this is PD 2 or 3 is unclear) standard to draw 18 W of power from suitable chargers. As a result you'll need to buy chargers which conform to these standards and are a fair bit pricier than the model here I'm afraid.

Most devices (If not all) will only draw the maximum power they safely can - I.e. If a device can only handle 5 W then it'll draw 5 W and not the full 12 W available.

I hope this helps with purchasing decisions

I bought one yesterday which arrive I'm day. I was hoping the additional amps might make a difference with my attempt to get an Alexa input work in my car. (I got be background noise.)

It worked.

Only problem.... I was using with air con on (it was so hot yesterday) and it killed my car battery! lol
I use this: amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1

And it works great charges fast, unlike other traditional sockets/chargers.
- arrived in a nice little package. Really handy little device.
Got mine yesterday. Connection is hit and miss in my transit custom. Not sure if it's faulty or it just doesn't fit the socket right, need to try in another vehicle. When I can get it to work it definitely isn't fast charging my Galaxy S10
