I can't believe this was ever £50 rrp even Apple wouldn't charge that surely?

It's a great price, checked the other day it was on for £12.99

It's says 4 1/2 star rating , yet reading first 50 reviews , over 9 in the last few weeks have said it stopped working after a few weeks .

If you are looking for a long wire that is strong and lasts look up lp Lightning cables on eBay. They are mfi certified too. Also relatively cheap even compared to the above price.

bought one of these a month ago, and its still going strong, so not sure what the recent reviews are about

(paid £12.99 for the lightning one, and £10 for the micro USB version) - these are very good quality cables

cold simply for the bull rrp, also all lightning cables tend to be op, probably due to apple licensing costs!!

I first bought one in june that lasted 2 months. Was solid while it worked but all of a sudden stopped for no reason.

I've owned a number of these. The older versions would fail at the micro USB end. I've had to get 3 replaced by anker who were good to their word on the warranty. The newer versions appear to be updated and the micro USB end seems more sturdy. They used to be 5.99 on amazon and we're never 50 quid. Full price was about 12.00 but I've never seen them being sold for that.

Black one is 6.99

just had one I've had 6 months stop working. To be fair to Amazon though they have refunded it

Mine just stopped working

I'll second this - I had 2x of the earlier style braided lightning cable and both failed after 10-11months of light use but Anker replaced both without any hassle at all and they sent me a newer version which has a different design on both ends (USB + Lightning)

With respect to the Price, I paid ~£7 for mine about a year ago.

[EDIT]
The newer design is like the one in the picture above

Lightning cables are unreliable, and usually weak, including the apple supplied ones. The lightning socket on the phone is also vulnerable to gumming up with lint, people often blame the cables when lint is the problem.

The only cable that has lasted years for me is the Poundland one.

That lint problem used to happen to me, I now put my iPhone in my pocket the other way round (lightning port at the bottom). But I have never had an Apple lightning cable fail and I've had a fair few since launch.

So looks like the recent reviews are correct and a few of you guys had the same problem, sounds like major manufacturing problems for so many to just stop working. This deal is freezing

Have bought and used loads of these and never had an issue. Use them by the bed and always have some in my rucksack. Anker's customer service is exemplary as well, they replace their items if there is any issue.
