A lower price than we saw around Black Friday. £45.99 sounds good to me on an Anker model. There's a lot of Dash Cam offers around lately and I thought this one may be worth a shout if you missed out last time

Don't know if this is a stupid question (new to the dash cam frenzy) but if the car is off does this only begin recording upon "shock" as opposed to something like a motion sensor?

I have the previous model, from how it behaves it has both which can independently be selected.
Awesome that's clinched it, I'll get it. Thank you!

I have this cam, it records 30 seconds after impact when car is off. In terms of motion recording when off I have not seen that option, but granted have not looked. However, the battery would only last a couple of minutes so I can't see this doing motion when off well if it actually does it at all.

Good dash cam though.
Oh! Plot twist
Good price, but I'd go for a Silent Witness dashcam every time.

C2 has the same decent chip found in the genuine G1Ws. Although the G1W provides better image quality when I compare my footage with that shown in the link (accounting for web compression, the C1 and G1W appear at least similar). What I'd like to see reported in dash cam specs are the video bandwidth for each resolution.

I'm looking for a motion detection cam and this sadly doesn't seem to have it from the specs

Good point. I would definitely pass on this then.
Ah thanks folks, will look out for the pro.

Please do share if you find a decent alternatives.

I'll do same if I come across something that would record on motion and maybe has built in long lasting battery.

I've got the older model, it has motion detection, it saves those clips in a separate directory.
Nice spot. Heat added. Anker is a reliable brand, been using the anker dash cam for few years now and it's going great.

Oh awesome, thanks. Why don't they mention it in the specs, so weird!!
Is it like proper motion detection or does it do 'timelapse' (like a few frames a second)?

Tested it out yet?

As soon as it senses motion ( by doing frame analysis probably) then it records properly for 10 seconds.
As stated before, I can only vouch for my model which the first one they made.

That's helpful, thanks
Night mode using a aperture of 2.0 I don't think so.

This is a pretty average camera that only records at 30 FPS, has no HDR, only records at 1080p and the lens aperture isn't great. The only thing that sets this apart from much better cameras that are half the price is the WIFI connectivity.
HDR? For dashcam footage?? lol wut
Can you link us to one you recommend at half the price?

Yes some cams have it. It is perfect for dashcams because you don't have consistent lighting. It would give you better detail in shadows.

Even this dashcam claims to have something called Wide Dynamic Range. You can notice the difference in the two models in the android police article linked above.

Yeah, I found that comment odd. I have two dashcams: Xiaomi and Yi which I bought for around £30. But the nighttime quality on this cam is way better. Plus the 'shock' activated recording even when the car/dashcam is off is super useful. Surely worth the extra £15.

This has been on offer at £45 a few times.
Got this yesterday and so much better than the Chinese knock offs ive been using. Windscreen fixing ( used suction cup for now) very positive hold and lock. Camera mounts to cup very securely ( both were a big problem on my cheaper ones). Cable is at least 10 ft long so had no problems routing it and hiding it for a discreet look. Setup was easy (didn’t even refer to manual as you are walked thru). Image both day and night are much better than previous cheap cams. Bang for buck I think it’s a good buy.
Does anyone know of a reason why this couldn't be powered by a portable battery pack please? Many thanks
Is this Wi-Fi or not??
When you follow the link to Amazon it's headline states not Wi-Fi but when you read the description further down it says it is...😣

None. I use a 8000mA power pack to power my dashcam when I'm parked
