Thought this was a bit of a mess to be honest, some interesting ideas but pacing and plot were all over the place
Natalie Portman 🔥
Great film, did go on Netflix fyi
Good movie
Awesome film. Looks like Amazon are price-matching some of the Zoom deals.
Would love a PS4 game based in this world with the environment getting more surreal

I think it's one of those experiential vs straightforward narrative movies. It's a more successful attempt by Garland as opposed to Devs which to me felt like a 2 or 3 parter drawn out over too many episodes with a poor quality protagonist.

Portman is a stellar actress but her characterisation is vague and cold, perhaps intentional so that the viewer may observe rather than empathise, resulting in for me an intriguing, sometimes horrifying tale but with a palpable gulf between me and the characters that inhabit the story. Intent nuclear as Garland prefers not to volunteer his personal viewpoint on his stories.
Not my cup of tea

For those that liked Annihilation and especially for those who liked Ex Machina, I highly recommend Devs. Garland has proven himself to be a wonderful talent and I'll go see whatever he makes next, no question. Agree with you on some of the criticism of Devs but as I read in a review, if you are okay with it being more ideas focused than character focused then you'll get on with it.

Gutted Annihilation wasn't in the cinema, that was robbed from us. It really was a film that should have been experienced that way, the sound design and beautiful landscapes are breathtaking and deeply unsettling.
Amazing movie, especially towards the end!

The Last of Us

I wouldn't call that game surreal but there's a fairly similar atmosphere!
