Rapid weight loss is almost always followed by weight gain, it takes longer but find something sustainable and not a fan diet and you're more likely to keep the weight off
The only way I can think a smoothie could bring about rapid weight loss is if it carried a viral load of norovirus or perhaps faecal contamination. Simply eating less dispenses with suspense filled dashes to the loo

It's not that simple only people who do not know how the body function go by that very basic concept.

Without looking at this book let me guess it focuses on low fat with lots of fruit if so this is wrong.

sugar/carbs are the problem you drop them weight loss happens fat is your friend it is far better energy source.

You should market your quick loss faecal tinged smoothies.
A low fat diet is the quickest route to depression and giving up your attempt to lose weight.

A reasonably trained person can burn 1000 calories in an hour of hard cycling. Want to lose weight and still eat? Get off your backside.
