Not bad for the money at all. Sure, there’s compromises but good hardware for those on a tighter budget. If you could, I’d advise Ryzen 5 over this 3 3200U as it’s more than twice as fast in CPU and GPU.
This is actually 10 pound cheaper at Argos was looking at this laptop this morning lol.

Edit: Nevermind it's a slightly similar laptop with very slightly worse specs.

If I had a hard limit of £300 and it had to be brand new - I would buy this. All the main specs you need at a great price - no stingy 4GB RAM, mechanical hard disks or low-res 15” displays!

I'd agree if it wasn't Lenovo. I'm always being asked to recommend Laptops etc and I recommended a few Lenovos 2 years ago and both developed hardware issues after 14 or so months (Bad power connector on one, bad touch pad on the other). Lenovo just have too many quality issues to recommend - its cheap for a reason.

Ryzen 5 at £350 has a 3yr warranty.
Thanks for posting. I have gone for one of these. Should be plenty sufficient for my needs and since I am replacing an 8 year old i3, this is probably going to quite a noticeable step up!

Anecdotally that can happen on anything. This is primarily a desk-bound machine with a low-end chassis so you can't expect amazing durability, Lenovo are pretty good on the hardware side really - I prefer Dell and HP but even they make some pretty rubbish machines at the low-end and even higher up.

Ryzen 5. This one? Yeh I'm tempted

Worth the extra £80 in my opinion, a lot more power and performance on tap, the graphics is a lot better too.

It is, barely a spec like it for the price and the 3 year warranty makes it a bulletproof buy.......I bought one

I'm debating the one in this link above and this lenova 330s Lenova 330s

330s is better build quality, but if you're going to even try light gaming you want the Ryzen 5 not the Intel i5.

That's an i5 though. I think the Ryzen will have better graphics performance if that's important to you.

Lenovo S340 with Ryzen5 here for £379 currently: currys.co.uk/gbu…tml

I'm juggling with all the above atm, looking for something just capable of running Sims4 and homework stuff for my eldest.
I'm no gamer. I just need MS Word lol. What I need is reliability and storage.
I need it to boot up fast. I need it not to freeze when multiple documents in different formats are open and im editing between them. Also moving images from web browser to said documents. Currently using my Note 9 and my kid's kindle fire 10 and I'm on the verge of a breakdown. Neither was designed for the relatively light use I'm making of them.

TN screen
Guys, I'm looking for a similarly spec'd laptop but it's got to be approx 14" screen. Anything out there for me? Cheers.

the one i linked above from pcworld is a 14" (central keyboard with no keypad, makes for more comfortable typing). It is a TN screen as Edged mentioned, but that doesn't bother me too much.

Cheers. That's beauty but beyond my budget unfortunately. Will continue looking...
All Laptop manufactures at the low cost end of the market are poor the one good thing about Lenovo is that spare parts are easy to get hold of but then again there is a probably a good reason for that.
This looks decent, prefer a ryzen 5 but my limit is really £300 max. Will see if any 5s drop below £300 this week.
But the comments on here suggest this is to go for with my limit.

Anyone have one?

If you don’t want to push beyond £300 just buy this, it’s AMD’s equivalent to Intel’s i3 and the rest of the hardware ensures you won’t get a bad deal - 256GB SSD, 8GB and full HD display are all key features that are a welcome addition. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Yes but as I say I recommend at least 6 or 7 laptop purchases a year to friends/family and the rate of failures of Lenovo have just been higher... I'm also not having any luck with my work desktop Lenovo!

I guess it all depends what they're doing with them and how they're all using them. I guess I've had worst luck with HP but I only use the EliteBook range myself and they've been absolutely fine. It's always the low-end stuff that breaks or chassis cracks.
better than a 486 dx2 ?

But if you want thin and similar specs you’re pushing ultrabook territory really. Probably something like this will be ok:

Ryzen 5 has been under £350 recently, search on HUKD. Money well spent imo.
What's the difference between the lenovo v155 ryzen 5 and the ideapadryzen 5? They look identical specs and are the same price? One any better over the other?
Just setting up one of these. They bob along very nicely. The screen is OK, although I can now see why people go on about IPS panels so much! Anyway, it will be fine for my needs and it was £280.
If anyone is interested I've had mine a couple of days, it's well built, yes plastic but robust, no creaks or rattles, a very nice finish with a slightly 'textile' like effect, screens just fine. Windows Updates installed quickly then a BIOS update, barely any bloatware.

SSD is very snappy, boots very quickly, speakers could be a little better although maybe some time spent on Dolby Audio would improve things.

According to ' Can You Run It ' it'll play 67 out of the top 100 games, ran the 2015 Wolfenstein just perfectly and my go to game of the moment Half Life 3.
I have just gone for one , hopefully will be the best of the bunch around this spec and price at the moment 😁 (hopefully will not regret it over any deals coming on cyber Monday 😬)

Again TN screens, I really wasn't to bothered by them until I went in to currys yesterday and it's like night and day, for 20 quid more you get IPS screen and double SSD
